SUBJECT: Mission Orders (Cycle 11 January 2003)

RMKS: 1 The invasion of the Mariana Islands – code named ‘OPERATION FORAGER’ – is due to begin. All boats not on special assignment will give support as needed. The IJN is expected to try and reinforce Saipan, Guam and Tinian, therefore Troop Transports and Oil Tankers are to be considered ‘TOP PRIORITY’ Targets.

RMKS: 2 Intelligence has intercepted a communication that Admiral Koga has been lost and presumed dead in a severe storm. Admiral Toyoda is expected to replace him as CinC IJN.

RMKS: 3 Admiral Ozawa - overall commander IJN - is expected to depart Tiwi Tiwi in an effort it intercept our carrier strike force. The IJN counter strike is expected to enter the Philippine Sea via the Sulu Sea or through the San Bernardino Strait All commanders in these areas are to report to ComPacFlt and sightings of this strike force.

RMKS: 4 An communication intercepted from Admiral Toyoda to Admiral Takagi – ComSubIJN – states that all available IJN Submarines within striking distance of the Mariana Islands are to form a close-in defense of the islands. All commanders are to be of this menace and are to eliminate any IJN submarine encountered.

RMKS: 5 When the Gilbert and Marshall Islands were captured, thousands of classified documents were captured and secured. Among these were the exact locations of the Japanese minefield locations. A booklet of these papers will be issued to all commanders.
