Syd is a platypus named after Sydney, the host city of the 2000 Olympic Games. He will represent the world's athletes.
Millie is an echidna named after the Millennium. She will keep the public informed of the Olympic journey towards 2000.
Olly is a kookaburra named after the Olympics. He represents the spirit of universal friendship.
The colours of the mascots represent the land, sea and water. They are also consistent with the colours used in the Sydney 2000 Logo.
The mascots' first live public appearance was in the middle of 1997.
