ALL ROUND VIEW COURTS

A typical all round view court

By "all round view" we mean that all walls are made of glass or some other transparent material and thus play can be viewed by spectators (and TV and other cameras) from all 4 sides.  The glass or other material is treated so that from the inside of the court the players see a white or colored surface whilst the spectators have an almost clear view into the court.  Such courts are used for the most important matches in a tournament, such as the sem-finals and finals where there are normally a larger number of spectators.

Some of these courts are demountable and can be transported to another site.  The time to put up or take down such a court varies but can be between 1 to 3 days dependent on the circumstances.  Other courts are permanent and in some cases these permanent courts can be changed from a singles court to a doubles court and vice-versa by the touch of a button. Variants also can be three sided (one side wall is of normal construction) or two sided where one side wall and the front wall are of normal construction and these variants have been used where there is insufficient space for all round viewing.
