Dear Sirs,

The Sri Lankan Peace Process is moving at a snail's pace.It is already 4 years since the CFA and no head way has been reached or will ever be reached.

A novel Peace Process has been set by GAM ( Acheh Rebels) and the Indonesian Government. It had solved the 30 year conflict in Acheh.I am sure it would do the same in Sri Lanka with modifications to suit local requirements.

Following the Earthquake and Tsunami of 26.12.2004, a new dialogue was opened between GAM and the Government. First round of talks took place in Helsinki 27-29 January, facilitated by Finland based Crisis Management Initiative.

For more details on this I would refer you to the following website:

www.acheh-eye.org

An almost immediate solution was found, acceptable to both parties.

I am sure this will have to be way for any future Peace Talks and Meetings between the LTTE and the Government of Sri Lanka. Norway will have to provide the leadership for such a meeting by meeting and discussing with the relevant parties the Acheh Process before calling for Peace Talks.

All the very best to all the parties and please act to resolve the crisis the soonest.

Yours Sincerely,

Rajahram Ramalingam,

Director,

SRI LANKA WATCH
