Kosovo Is Serbia
In 600 A.D. Serbia was part of South Slav (Yugoslav) nation. Union between Serbs,
Croats, and few other minorities (at that time). No mention of Albania here,
and judging by the map, region known as Kosovo is well within borders of Yugoslav
nation. Serbs as people, existed well before this date but were known under
different name.
Second
map shows Europe at 800 A.D. Europe where Serbia had most of Macedonia, part
of Greece, and entire region now known as Albania. Region known as Kosovo is
"Again" clearly within Serbia proper. It remained there for the next
500 years. Only after the expansion of Ottoman Empire during early years of
13th century was Albania created. Serbia, after loosing the battle of Kosovo
to the Turks (not Albanians), went under their rule. All the Serbs that fought
that battle were beheaded by Turks, and monument known as "Cele Kula"
- Skull Tower" was erected as a symbol of Turk victory, and as a sign to
remaining Serbian population of what's in store for them.
The
more recent history, again shows that Kosovo region was within Serbia. WWI erupted
when Gavrilo Princip assassinate Archduke Ferdinand of Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Or so the story goes. In reality, they were preparing for the war against Serbia,
and this assassination was just an excuse to start it.
After several battles, Serbia was on the verge of defeating Austro-Hungarian Empire, but Germany could not allow it's puppet state to lose, so they intervened in the war, thus truly starting WWI. Serbia along with it's allies, British, and Americans, was the victor, but it took a tremendous blow. Over 60% of its male population has died in this war.
After WWII, most Serbs that lived in Kosovo region were not allowed to return home. Tito and his communists, gave those Serbs new homes in northern Serbia (Vojvodina). But!! homes that belonged to Kosovo Serbs were given to Albanian immigrants. That alone made population ratio 50-50 in Kosovo. At the same time Tito and communists declared Kosovo and Vojvodina, as autonomous provinces of Serbia. Idea behind that was: "Weak Serbia - Strong Yugoslavia".
In the late '80's, early '90's, President of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic, and the entire Serbian parliament, declared that Kosovo and Vojvodina are integral part of Serbia and do not deserve any special status (questionable decision !!). That's when all of this terrorist activity by Albanian separatists started. It was there beforehand but in much smaller capacity.
It is worth a mention that, present Albanian population in Kosovo is about 1.2 million, out of which almost halve are illegal immigrants without any paperwork indicating their present or past status. The rest of population (about 500,000) are Serbs and other minority in the area. When US and alike say that Albanians represent 90% it is a "DOWNRIGHT LIE". Non-serb population is at 83% out of which only 67% are Albanians.
