Attendance:    Since much emphasis is placed on listening and speaking, absenteeism can definitely cause problems.  If you know you are going to be absent, it is your responsibility to inform me in advance and make up all assignments (homework, quizzes, tests, projects, etc.)

Tardiness:       Tardiness to class will not be tolerated.  You are expected to be ready to begin class when the bell rings.  If you are tardy or late to school and miss class, it is an unexcused absence.  You are expected to have the assignment for the next day.  The same applies for dismissals.

Penalties for tardiness:

  1. Warning
  2. Detention
  3. Student will receive disciplinary consequences and parents will be notified (consequences may include: loss of one point per tardy per marking period, Saturday detention).     *Refer to school handbook.

Make-up work:  If you are absent for one or two days, you need to obtain the assignments and hand them in the next day (use Web site).  If you are absent for a longer period of time, see me to discuss when the work will be due.  If you are absent for only one day and a quiz or a test is scheduled, you will be expected to take the quiz or test.  If you miss a quiz or test, you have no more than one week to make it up.  Please see me to make arrangements.  Failure to make up quizzes or tests within the one-week period will result in a zero for that grade.  No extensions allowed (unless extraordinary circumstances; you still need to see me in advance to discuss).

Materials:   (this is part of your participation grade)

  • Pen or pencil
  • Book (covered)
  • Notebook (3 ring binder with the following items/sections: Class Expectation Sheet, Useful Spanish Expressions, Review Verb Sheet, Practice, Vocabulary, Grammar, Culture, and Homework).
