The Meeting of Minds
I didn't mean to do it? I had no choice. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted me to do.
He can't be that mad..... Can he? I have Drake on the ropes, I'm going to get that title shot. That's gonna impress him. I'll show him I'm my own man, I'll show him I deserve this. Not to mention I made up for it. Come on, I didn't do that bad did I?
He's such an idiot! What was he thinking? That's just the thing, HE WASN'T THINKING! He fell right into Drake's trap like a damn rookie. I know Drake, eventhough it might not seem like it he's thinking all the time and if you make one small mistake he'll bite you in the ass..... literally. It's a good thing we were able to find an opening otherwise we never would have gotten Drake back.
Yeah, maybe I made a mistake but I can fix it. It'll make it even more sweeter when I get that belt.
There's no way in hell he's going to get that belt unless he listens to me. It looks like I'm going to have another tough week ahead of me.
[In the center of a small warehouse there's a wrestling ring. The rest of the warehouse is empty. Suddenly there's a loud noise, it's the sound of a big metal door. Voices are heard as they step into the warehouse. There are two voices, one is the unmistakable voice of Scythe and the other the deep, dark voice of the once CCW VP Craig Servaise. Scythe in a windbreaker and jeans and Servaise in a black suit and black sunglasses as usual.]
Scythe: What the hell are we doing here?
Servaise: We need to work on a few things.
Scythe: Ok but tell me one thing, are you mad about what I did on Sunday?
[Servaise doesn't respond and just changes the subject.]
Servaise: I'm going to have to get you to think on your feet, you have this thing of following your instincts and that's not always good.
Scythe: That's the way I wrestle. I don't think I ever plan a move.
Servaise: Well we're going to have to change that. You should always have a game plan and a way out if you're in trouble.
Scythe: A way out? Sounds like a way of quitting.
Servaise: Quitting is such a harsh term, let's call it a strategical retreat.
Scythe: Sorry, I don't do that.
[Servaise starts to get upset and starts yelling at Scythe.]
Servaise: Now you listen to me! We are not going to have another incident like we had on Sunday got me?!?
Scythe: So you are mad. Listen I'm sor.....
Servaise: ....Sorry's not going to cut it. Now get in that ring!
He's got to learn. The problem is he's gaining too much independence. I thought I had crushed that hope week's ago, looks like I'm back to square one.
He's such a hard ass. Why can't he just relax?!? I have everything under control. What can't he just lay off for one second?!?
I have to stay strict with him or else he'll never learn. I mean just look at some of the people who didn't have guidance like mine. Look at Drake, what has he become? When I first hired him he was great, I thought he'd put the CCW on top, instead he dragged it down.
You know what his problem is? He's too damn caught up in being the best. I think it's starting to rub off on me, I mean I can't wait to hold that belt in my hands. Before I met Servaise I never used to care about any of that crap, now look at me. I'll do anything for that cheap piece of metal they call the Hardcore Championship.
He's gotta want to win that belt. He's getting there but he's just too much of a nice guy. He's gotta show no mercy, he's doesn't just have to win he's gotta destroy his opponent.
Scythe: Listen Craig.....
Servaise: What have I told you about using my first name?
Scythe: Ok.... Listen Servaise, I don't like this technical wrestling crap. It's too damn slow, why can't I just stick to my style?
[Scythe has removed his windbreaker and is now in jeans and a white tanktop. He's in the middle of the ring with a sleeper hold applied to a dummy.]
Servaise: You can't just be a one trick pony, you gotta be able to adapt. What if someone starts to actually wrestle you instead of doing your little Cirque du Soleil crap, then what do you do? You're stuck on the ground, you have to learn all aspects of wrestling.
Stubborn bastard. He's got a one track mind.
Stubborn kid. He's got a one track mind.
Scythe: If I lose I lose.
Servaise: DON'T YOU EVER, AND I MEAN EVER TALK LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!
Scythe: I mean really, as long as the fans get their money's worth.
Servaise: Who gives a crap about the fans.
I mean really? Who does give a crap about the fans anymore. It's all about the money and the power, nothing else matters. Although he is right, winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.
Scythe: Me for one, I care about the fans.
Servaise: Well you shouldn't. It's a liability.
Scythe: Liability? No, having your girlfriend at ringside is a liability, having a seperated shoulder is a liability, being Shawn Diemond is a liability, but caring for the fans is not a liability!
Out think me will you!
Servaise: Just get back to work on those holds!
Sometimes I don't know where he gets his ideas. It's hard to believe this guy was actually a big time wrestler up in Canada. I got nothing against Canadians but how can they possibly like this guy?
Servaise: Ok that's enough, get out here and take a break.
[Scythe let's go in the dummy which is now in a modified STF. He walks over to the ropes and slides under them. He grabs a nearby water bottle and drenches his head in water. Servaise walks over and in the process take off his sunglasses.]
Scythe: Remember when you said give this relationship a week and if I didn't like it I could leave.
[Servaise stops.]
Servaise: ....yeeeah.
Scythe: Well I want out. This just isn't working.
Sweet merciful crap! I guess it's time for plan B.
Servaise: Fine! You want to leave, leave. Go back to that crap hole you call your home. Give up everything that you've worked so hard for and leave me lying in the dust.
I love playing the guilt card. And it'll work too because this guy doesn't know how to say no.
I know what he's doing, he's trying to do that guilt thing on me, but it's not going to work.....
Scythe: Nice try but no dice.
This is going to be harder than I originally thought.
Servaise: .... okay just think about it, all the money and power you'll have once we're finished...
Scythe: I think I've pretty well established the fact that I don't give a damn about that shit.
Oh right! That whole, I'm too good for money thing. I had forgotten about that.
Servaise: .....but...but...what about the fans!
Ha ha! Lets see him weasle his way out of this one.
Servaise: What you're just going to give up on them now?
Scythe: But I you didn't care about the fans.
Servaise: You're right I don't, but do you?
He's right, I can't let them down. I mean who's going to fill up the card? The HWF doesn't need more jobbers running around doing whatever they want.
Scythe: *sigh* Okay, you make a good point. I'll stay.... for now, but this better be worth it.
Servaise: Oh it'll be worth it all right, it'll be damn worth it.
Man, this is harder than I originally thought. I'm going to have to re-think my whole strategy. My whole plan down the drain in one week. It's alright though, if I can just get through the next couple of weeks without another mistake I'll be okay, and I'll show that Drake just how serious I am about this.
