ARRIVAL AT ANNECY

The old town of Annecy, in Haute Savoie, became in 1833, home to our branch of the Sisters of St Joseph. The Sisters came here from Evian, Pignerol (Italy) and elsewhere.

La Galerie, with its links with Annecy's great St Francis de Sales and the Visitation Sisters, forms part of the Mother House in Annecy.

The central courtyard: the well provided fresh water for the Sisters until comparatively recent times.

Some Sisters left from the Mother House to begin work in India, in 1849. It was through the Indian Mission that our Sisters came to work in England in 1864.
