Chronicles of Gundamia Part 2 Suddenly, the intercom was activated. "ALL CREW MEMBERS, RETURN TO YOUR STATIONS IMMEDIATELY! I REPEAT, RETURN TO YOUR STATIONS IMMEDIATELY! ENEMY VESSELS HAVE BEEN DETECTED!" Noin's voice was heard all across the ship. Lunch ended early and everyone returned to their battle stations. From the tone of her voice, this was no drill. Within moments, the six Gundam pilots, Milardo, Heero, Ocean, Rini, Duo, and Luna were in their flight suits and strapped inside their Gundams. The six hangar bay doors opened one for each Gundam. "We have enemy Virgos coming in, about 20 of them." Nonie instructed them over the comm. "The Valiant is still tied to the shipyard so it can't move. Keep them away until the Valiant engines are finished spinning up." "Yes Ma'am." All six pilots confirmed. The hangar catapults warmed up and soon the Gundams were launched into the inky blackness of space. Locking their targets, they thrusted off towards the enemy Virgos. "I thought that all the mobile dolls were destroyed a year ago in the last war?" Ocean inquired. "Who cares, lets smash them before they reach the Valiant." Duo was excited to try his fighting skills after a year of rest. Meanwhile: Back on the Valiant Misty, Essy, and Quatra were in the portside KKC turret. The turret held three cannons and they each controlled one cannon. "Ready for a lock on." Essy said while taking the controls and preparing for the onslaught. "Steady!" Misty said to comfort herself. "Let's come through this alive." Quatra said as he got the first lock on. He pressed the fire button and a 20KG solid bullet shot out of the cannon. Propelled by the kinetic energy of the massdriver, it sped on unhindered. It struck true and left a car sized hole in the Virgos chest. The MS blew without a second thought. However, at the battle field: With lightning speed, Heero spun his Gundam about and brought the buster cannon to bear on the incoming missiles. Pressing control keys and sticks, he zigzagged backwards, shooting a suppressive hail of hyperspeed ions at the missiles. They detonated in a chain reaction. Rini tapped on a few keys and her out of control Gundam righted itself and stopped spinning. All around her the battle ragged on, blazing beams of energy streaking past the combatants against a backdrop of the Moon. Gundam and Virgo fighters were locked in deadly dance, missiles spiraling around each other as they arced toward their mark. Then a mammoth enemy ship was slowly coming about the side of the moon. Luna communicated this information back to the Valiant, whose Point defense system was strained to the breaking point to counter wave after wave of high explosive rockets. "Seek the enemy." Milardo whispered, and his combat screen came alive at once, targeting several enemy Virgos. He discarded the smaller targets and selected the enemy ship. The Epyon thrusted forward on an intercept vector, the gees pushing him into his seat. Another war was about to erupt and there was nowhere to run. The Gundam pilots felt sick and they felt like heroes. They had to make a difference. |
