The Longest Kiss: Chapter 3 By: Archica Gundam Wing doesn't belong to me.
Hilde shrieked, and as the sound of her own shrill cry rang out through the room, the thought that this was not like her was in her mind. Hilde wasn’t the type of girl to scream like that, and she had seen plenty of dead people, but not like this. Never like this. The little girl’s body was laying in a pose that suggested she had merely fallen asleep. The only problem was that half of her neck had been ripped off. Not just scratched or cut, but completely torn off. The scariest thing? There was no blood. Hilde nearly threw up right there. The wound was huge and gaping, and there was no blood. Do you know what a wound like that looks like when there’s no blood? All her veins and arteries were completely visible. Some of the meat of her flesh had been chewed on. The girl couldn’t have been over fourteen years old. Hilde was now eighteen, so of course the girl appeared to be a child to her. The girl was clothed in nothing but a pair of blood stained cotton panties. Dear God, thought Hilde, what has Duo done?! A knock at the door startled Hilde so much that she practically jumped out of her own skin. “Hilde, open the door!” Duo’s voice yelled. Hilde almost panicked, but then regained her calm persona. She quickly shoved the girl’s body back into his closet and ran out of the room. She took another quick glance back to make sure there was no evidence of her being in there. She closed the door back and ran to the living room door. She opened it quickly. Duo stood there, holding two brown paper bags. “Why did you lock the door?” he asked her. “Sorry, I just don’t like being alone without the door locked, I guess.” “Why? You could handle any robbers or serial killers that came your way.” he said, laying the two sacks on the coffee table. Serial killers. That’s what Duo was. Hilde wasn’t sure of it yet, but she was pretty certain that the girl wouldn’t be his last victim. The next could be her. The thought made her shudder. She loved Duo. What would she do if he attacked her? She couldn’t fight him. Beyond that, her heart was breaking. All her images of the sweet, funny Duo she loved were being shattered. He was a killer. She knew he called himself Shingami, the god of death, because he often said that he commits mass murder. But all his victims were soldiers, other fighters who knew the risks when they first climbed into their mobile suits, who would’ve just as callously killed him as he killed them. That girl in his closet was no soldier. Why did he kill her? Where did he find her? So many thoughts were racing through Hilde’s head. She watched Duo pull off his jacket to reveal his white tank top. It showed off his slightly muscular arms. His hair was not braided, but pulled back into a high ponytail. His pants were light-colored, loose-fitting jeans. He was so beautiful. She couldn’t imagine how someone so beautiful could do something so horrible. Duo finally noticed that she was staring. “Is something wrong?” he asked. “...No, nothing’s wrong. You just look cute in that outfit.” she said with a wink. Duo smiled warmly. “You look cute in your bathrobe.” Hilde couldn’t help but blush. He never complemented her like that. “What all did you get?” she asked, picking up one of the bags and opening it. Duo quickly snatched the bag from her hands and picked up the other. “Just some medicine and a few groceries that need to be put in the fridge before they ruin.” Hilde narrowed her eyes at his back as he walked into the kitchen. You were too slow, she thought, I saw the packaged meat you bought. She walked into her bedroom, not wanting to see another gore fest like this morning, and shut the door. Ok, there’s a dead girl in his closet, he eats huge amounts of raw meat, and he’s being frighteningly nice, she thought as she paced around the room. All of this was way too weird for her to handle on her own. She had to call someone, someone who knew Duo just as well as she did. She ran over to her nightstand pulled out her address book. “Y...Y...Y...” she said, flipping through the pages. “Yuy!” she exclaimed as she stopped at the page that had Heero Yuy marked at the top. She picked up her telephone and dialed the number. On the third ring, someone picked up. “Hello, this is Heero Yuy.” “Heero? This is Hilde. Can you come out here for a visit? Like, today?” “Today? I can’t just take off like that. Why so suddenly?” “Duo’s acting strange. Very strange. I hate to tell you this but... I found a dead body in his closet.” “Duo’s a mass murderer. What’s one dead body?” “No, it’s a young girl. Her neck’s been ripped off. I mean totally ripped off. All the blood’s gone too. Last night Duo was attacked and bitten on the neck. Now he’s acting really strange and eating raw meat like crazy!” “Hmmm. That is strange. Look, I can get there by the end of the week. I’m kind of busy here for a few days. Just don’t ask him too many questions and act like everything’s completely normal. You might want to keep a gun nearby at night too.” “A gun?” “If Duo’s gone insane, you never know who he may attack. Keep a gun with you, just to be on the safe-side. I’ll get there by the end of the week. Be careful.” With that, he hung up. Hilde clutched the phone in her hands. Heero’s words echoed through her mind. A gun? How could she shoot Duo? Even if he were to attack her, she would never be able to shoot him! She need help, and she needed it now. Who else could she call? Trowa Barton was practically a mime and probably wouldn’t come and Wufei couldn’t care less what was going on with Duo, as far as Hilde knew. Hilde suddenly thought of the sweet, blonde-haired peace-lover who’d do anything to help his friends. She flipped through her address book again, this time looking for the W’s.
