The Longest Kiss: Chapter 6

Gundam Wing doesn't belong to me

Duo had been in love with Hilde for months now. After moving in with her, he had gradually began to notice all her good traits. He loved the way she always stood up to him when she felt he was wrong, and always took up for him when others were wrong. She cleaned up after his messes, complemented his cooking, and made her life an open book to him.
Now, as his supposed friend held her in his arms, Duo felt the same pain Hilde felt every single time she found out he was going out with another girl.
He felt rage and betrayal building up in his mind. How could he?! How could Quatre steal Hilde away from him?! He was staring at the way Quatre’s arms were wrapped protectively, possessively around Hilde. She was wearing nothing more than a longish white T-shirt. It was an indecent scene, at least in Duo’s eyes.
He clenched his fists tightly and lunged at the couple. He tore Quatre away from Hilde and flung him against the side of the house. “How could you?! How could you do this?!” Duo kept screaming.
“Duo! What are you talking about?!” Quatre yelled, trying to block Duo’s punches.
Hilde, not one to be the weak little girlfriend who stands at the sides crying “Stop it, boys, you may hurt each other!”, grabbed Duo and pulled him off of Quatre. “Dear Lord, Duo, what’s wrong with you?!”
Duo didn’t even comprehend their words. He was too enraged. He knocked Hilde away, causing her to tumble to the ground with a sickening thud. He took back hold of Quatre and shoved him against the wall again. “You little bastard! I thought you were my friend!”
“Duo, I am your friend! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“You took her away from me!”
“Took who?!”
Duo’s eyes became red with vengeance. He grabbed a hand-full of Quatre’s soft hair and used it to jerk his head back. Duo then lunged his sharp teeth into one of Quatre’s veins. Quatre jerked and twitched a bit before passing out. Duo released him and he slumped onto the floor. His eyes were wide and vacant. They looked as if his very life essence had been stripped from him.
Duo fell back onto the ground himself, panting and trembling. His former friend’s blood trickled down his chin and he wiped it away with his sleeve. After a few seconds, his eyes fell upon Hilde, who was sitting on the ground, wide-eyed and terrified. A trace of a bruise was forming on the left side of her face where Duo had struck her and a small drop of blood was falling from the corner of her mouth.
His eyes changed back to purple and he scurried to his feet. He ran over to Hilde and squatted down beside her. “Hilde! Hilde, I’m so sorry! You have no idea how sorry I am! I didn’t mean to hurt you! Hilde, you know I’d never hurt you on purpose!” He went on rambling as he wrapped his arms so tightly around her that she felt her circulation was being cut off. Finally, to silence him, she lifted a hand and pointed. What she pointed to was Quatre’s drained, nearly dead body that lay on their porch.
“Oh my God! Quatre!” Duo screamed, running over to his friend. “What have I done?!”
“You...you bit him!” Hilde choked out, her voice hoarse and broken.
Duo fell to his knees in front of Quatre. He remembered everything that had happened, he just couldn’t remember why he became so angry. Why did he become so enraged that he would do this to his friend? He stared at Quatre’s position for a few moments before coming to a conclusion. “Hilde, I think there’s only one way he can live now.”
“What do you mean?” Hilde asked nervously, fearing his answer.
“I have to feed him my blood. He’ll become whatever I am now, but he’ll live.”
“No! You can’t turn him into a monster!” Hilde cried, her eyes swelling up with tears, “He’s so sweet and kind and gentle! He could never be a killer like you! He couldn’t rape and murder young girls like that!” Hilde broke over and fell onto a porch chair. “He just couldn’t!”
Duo lowered his eyes. He now knew that Hilde had discovered the bodies in his bedroom. She called him a monster. That’s what he was. He knew it now. Hilde could never love a monster. But he couldn’t think about that now. His friend was dying and he had to do something. He didn’t want to place the same curse on Quatre as he was suffering from this very moment, as he has been suffering from for the past two nights, but maybe, just maybe, there was hope.
Duo pulled out his pocket knife and slit his own wrist. He heard Hilde’s moanful, weak protests, but painfully ignored them. He held Quatre’s face in his hand and used his fingers to separated Quatre’s lips. He held his cut wrist over Quatre’s mouth and allowed his blood, the crimson liquid of life to flow onto the waiting lips beneath.
Quatre jerked and then opened his eyes. Hilde stood up quickly to see what had happened. Much to her dismay, Quatre’s eyes were blood red. The redness was so pure that it shocked Hilde and Duo both.
The two of them stood up and stepped back, both completely unsure as to what would happen next.
Quatre slowly stood up, dusted off his pants and glared at Hilde and Duo. He eyed them both suspisiously, with a very non-Quatre look on his face. He wasn’t the same person. Not at all. He was completely different. So different, in fact, that Duo wondered if the real Quatre had not died and left this imposter behind.
There was something out of place. Maybe it was the vicious red eyes or the huge, bloody wound in his neck, but Duo was leaning more toward the fact that Quatre gave them both a wicked, crooked smile, baring his giant, razor fangs.
He took a step forward and they both stepped another step back. Duo gently nudged Hilde behind him and stood ready to protect her at all costs, even if it meant fighting his friend.
Quatre gave a low, soft chuckle. “What’s wrong, friends? Aren’t you happy that I’m all right?”
“We’re very happy, man, so just stay cool, ok?” Duo said quickly.
“Oh, I’m very cool. I just want you to do one thing for me.”
“What’s that?” Hilde asked, a hint of defense in her voice.
“I want you to bring me Trowa. Duo, bring me Trowa Barton, or your precious Hilde will become my first meal
