Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak intitiated the Indian Struggle for Independence against the British. He was a great student and practioner of Indian Value System. He exhorted to the Indians that the concept of God in India is not retricted to rituals. It pertains to the all pervading Brahma. The God Element (Brahma) cannot be understood by getting isolated from others. This element could be understood by having interaction with and doing the cooperation with others. When we are able to understand the minds of others and undertake work of social well-being then we move closer to the God. Let us celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi in the manner conceived by the person who started this tradition.
