Just found the site. Fantastic. I rode the Proteus from Charleston, via New London, arriving 3 Mar 61. Left in late July 61 for college. Was an FTB2 in the Missile shop (duh!). My wife (now ex-wife) was the third dependant to arrive. Lived at Fernhill in
unters Quay. Many many many wonderful memories! May attend the reunion this year. Want to show my new wife the best duty in the world.

I was T.A.D. on the George C. Marshall when it did the dive in your sequence of pictures on the Marshall page. My first underway. If I remember right, we had went out a week earlier after refit and fixed some things, then back out for patrol. I remember s
methins about the tender going underway about the same time, but I did'nt realize we were so close! Great site. I loved the Marshall pic's.

Served as Weapons Officer onboard USS James Madison (Gold) from June 1987 until decommissioning (detached Jan 1992.) Remember the MTC only to well. Good to see the picture with MTI Faunce. The port call in Bermuda was my first of eight patrols. Disapp
inted to see only TM3 (TMC) Mathley sign-in from those years. Also served with PN2 (PNC) Sandoval on USS Henry Clay.

I served my time on the madison (77-80)GOLD. We did an extended refit on the Los Alamos, I can't remember which year tho. We took her to Newport News Shipyard. Man they cut so many holes in I thought she would never float again. I can remember alot of the
faces but the names are fading. I remember Jim Hair(Master Chief RM) was the COB. He was like a father to us. As for remembering Holy Lock fun times, I danced with the ugliest girl in my life, at the old EM Club. It was a great serving with the finest s
ilors in the world. Some of us called her Jimmy" Mad Dog" Madison. Some called her the "Jolly Dolly". And who can forget the" Blue NOSE "party. Great site, it brings back a flood of memories.

USS Daniel Boone SSBN 629 (B) '78 to '80
(we C-4 backfitted in 1980)
I took a lot of pictures (slides) myself during this time.
And then the USS Lewis and Clark SSBN 644 '90 to '91 (One of the last boats to leave before they shutdown the LOCH.
Being an a-ganger, I think the angle of the ship is too much in the missile picture.
Thanks for the memory jolt.

I can't tell you how much I want pictures of my old boats. I do have a bad pic of Pomfret. I want a pic of her in her WWII dress, not her Puff dress. Of course, Lewis & Clark always lookied the same, til she was cut up and sent up the Columbia to Hanford.
I saw her reactor section go up river. I ran a fish boat out of Astoria then.
I took some Minox photos (spy camera) of Lewis & Clark, but lost them. Now, I want just one for my old age.

Excellent page on the JA! We actually served together for one Patrol, Winter 78-79. I was in A-Gang on the 620B fom Dec 76 'til Mar '79.
I will be using some of your pictures on my page dedicated to the JA and the Sturgeon.
I also have some other info about the JA from another shipmate who was working as a yardbird at Bremerton. His first assignment there was the RC removal of the JA, his last one was the scraping of the remainder of the hull.

st our head valve and one of our MMM made one out of deck plate and welded on while we pitch and rolled. What a job but it worked. We also lost our aft marker bouy and all the cable was let out. Since I was one of the boats divers I had to go over the sid
to cut us loose.I have pictures of that...At that time we got spotted by a canadian P2V Neptune and since the hull was paited all white he thought he had a Russki. But we sent him flashing light and he was OK. You have a good page here on the internet. L

Nice web site!! Served on the John C. Calhoun (SSBN 630 G), Billfish (SSN 676), and Narwhal (SSN 671). Man, I miss my pony. I had a '69 Mach 1 (351W, toploader 4 speed, lotsa fun). Also owned a '67 Cougar (289, C4 auto) that was nice. The "blink out"
taillights still worked!

COB,
I was on the Boone in 74. I was hurt on patrol, since that time I lost my Dophins and my patrol pins, and my Boone Hat. How can I find replacements??? I want someday to show my new 3 year old daughter, I was there...
Thanks Cob

Jammer: Take a look at Ron Martini's Ship's Store site at http://wavecom.net/~rontini/shipstor.html
You should be able to find just about anything there you might want.

I served on subs USS Tirante (SS-420), USS Thomas A. Edison (SSBN-610 Blue), USS Will Rogers (SSBN-659 Blue), and USS Trepang (SSN-674). I made 7 patrols out of the Holy Loch on Edison and 4 on Rogers. Plus, I was stationed on USS Simon Lake (AS-33) in
he Loch from July 1966 to February 1969. I love Scotland and I think your Holy Loch page is fantastic. B.R.

I served on the Daniel Boone SSBN629. I was a FTB3 before I was injured and got discharged back in 74. Those were some of the best memories I can recall. I wouldn't trade a million bucks for the experience but I wouldn't pay a nickel to do it again. Good
age my friend, Thanks for the memories.
