Darkness Is A Shade Of Light

Bleeding into me.
The blood within cooling to grey.
Knee-deep in blackened water.
Shimmering silver, weeping the coldest of blue.

Integrate webbing.
Brick-walls merging with a shadow.
Sweating and stinking in cold humidity.
I asked you whether you’d open me a door.
You stood on the edge of a tear. Silent.

Angels within.
Silver lining gracing a black cloud.
I walked along, a dead pulse within my veins.
I asked you where they were.
You sat and cried by my side.

You opened an old wound.
I released an endless breath,
But you showed me a window I didn’t want to open.
My hand clutched yours, and together we stared into the sun.
You said, “darkness is a shade of light”,
And I nodded. A smile was born from purple lips,
And I breathed again.
Shards of an ember lighted the halls.
And I breathed again.
Smiling, I breathed again.
