Asuka Langley Sohryu
Asuka is the "second child". She is the designated pilot of Eva unit 0-2. Unlike the others, she is not from Japan. She came from Germany bringing with her the production model unit 0-2 (episode 8). Her hair is a mirror image of her personality; she tends to have an agressive personality not only in combat but in regular life. Her anger tends to go mostly towards Shinji and at times Rei. She fights so often with Shinji that they got the nickname "The newly weds".Asuka had a very bad childhood. Her mother went insane (and eventually commited suicide) and neglected her. Her mother took to taking care of a doll she called "Asuka" instead.
