Prayers to the Moon Goddess

Passing Moon, Goddess of the Night,
Stray I too long from your path of palest light?
Please hear me despite my slight.

Sacred duties you assigned I cherish,
Yet my simple heart only finds the way to anguish.
Ever I dream, and my dreams tarnish.

While I love earnestly those I ought,
What awful heartaches have they always brought!
Pray let I never again be besought.
