ON AN EMPTY STAIRCASE

UP: The stairway was empty so early in the morning.
All the people and their laughter have yet to arrive.
Only her hollow footsteps thumped on the battered stairs.
Step by laborous step, as she carried her magnamous weight,
Her destiny lifted her jovial spirit------------------------up.

She left
the silence
to keep
the stairs
company.
Then people rushed in and rushed out.
And then
silence reigned
the stairway
again.

DOWN: The staircase was empty so late in the day.
All the people and their laughter have already left.
Only her weighted footsteps echoed back and forth.
Step by faltering step, as her exhausted body descends,
Her departure dragged her battered spirit---------------down.
