Stubborn Flame

Upon the bush fire sprinkles gentle earth
- stoically smothers the flames.
To all observing eyes,
the tranquil serenity has return.
Yet beneath some dirt patch,
a stubborn flame burns.
When, once all eyes are turned,
it rears its ugly sight
and to the surface it claws.
Again -
the fire sweeps through the plains.
While the calming earth lies helplessly.
