THE MORGAN

The morgan is a breed that can trace it's ancestry back to one single horse: Justin Morgan. This little horse was unsurpassed in pulling competitions. Despite his small frame, Justin Morgan was exceptionally strong, able to out-pull horses that were twice his size. Like their ancestor, the modern morgans are strong and not much bigger than 14.1 to 15.2 hands high. They are versatile animals, capable of hauling logs, pulling sleighs and wagons, racing, or carrying a rider. They are generally bay, chestnut, brown, or black, with expressive heads and well proportioned ears. Morgans are intelligent and a good pick for people who are looking for a big horse in a small body.
