Thank you for your newsletter and an update of the school for the upcoming academic year. I am a priest of the Anglican Church USA and an academician. It is a delight to see the Orthodox scholastics and the upholding of the Holy Orthodox tradition and teachings.

To the Management of the Great School of the Nation in America:
Your Excellency, Professor Michael Melchizedek,
With a lot of joy we learned that Dr. Ioannis (John E. Watson) is studying at your school. Permit us to inform you, that Mr. J. E. Watson is a very lovable person (in our Association of Old Calendarist Greeks from Imvros - Tenedos and Constantinople) at the "Union of Friends of Byzantium" (as our general secretary and translator), but also here at the Orthodox Church of St Constantine and Helen at St Gallen and at the Principality.
We all congratulate this student Mr. E. Watson and wish him with all our heart that the Omnipotent God grant him whatever he desires.
We thank you and we send our love from St Gallen - Switzerland.
With respect for the Governing Council, the President:

Dear Father:
Thank you so much for your courtesies and the great learning experience you so kindly provided to us during the 2006 Summer Session. Your patience, depth of knowledge, and experience is greatly appreciated. I look forward to visiting you again soon.

Thank you for all of your assistance through the STL program. I especially thank you for your patience and guidance during my initial efforts when I had no firm grasp on theological research. I have learned a great deal about Orthodox theology. Having earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree through the traditional educational method, I must say that I have found my learning experience at St. Elias School of Orthodox Theology to be most educational and fruitful.

Estimado Director:

Dear Professors,
I wish to thank you for all you do, making St. Elias possible for us to gain a Theological education. Cal Poly State University is considering my course "In Support of Caretakers". It is going before the board and I may get to teach it in San Luis Obispo this summer. I know that there is a need for this and without your support it could not have been attempted. The ripples travel far in the pond.

I received two degrees from St. Elias (an S.T.L. and a Ph.D.) and am presently an active member of the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies, and the American Academy of Religion. I am routinely invited to present papers at these conferences, as well as write book reviews for such prestigious journals as the Bryn Mawr Classical Review, and Philosophy in Review. I am an editor of a major Orthodox theological journal, and an assistant editor of the most popular philosophical resource on the Internet. Also, my St. Elias dissertation was recently published, and is selling on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You have my assurance that any degree obtained from St. Elias is legitimate and recognized by the academic community. If you haven't already done so, please visit my homepage (www.theandros.com/emoore) and view my credentials. Trust me, a degree from St. Elias is respected and will open many academic doors.

I forwarded your greetings to His Holiness, Mathias Mar Yusef of which he was most grateful and warmly returns his blessings.
His Holiness also wished to convey his admiration for your accomplishments, especially in creating the St. Elias School of Orthodox Theology.

As to St. Elias....I have been working on my STD for about a year....and am
currently working my way through my dissertaion. I have also attended a
couple of classes/seminars on campus.
Bishop Melchizedek is very thorough in his preparation and presentation...an excellent writer himself, the courses are very thorough and thought
provoking. They are very available online and respond within a day or so
at most....very helpful, and understanding. I have found the school very thorough in its materials, assistance and availability and worthwhile....
I would personally suggest that you give serious thought to completing your education or pursuing further education at St. Elias.
St. Elias is very thorough in evaluating course work and previous studies and provides an excellent transcript. Not like many who provide only a degree. My impression of the work required is sufficiently rigorous to stand accreditation standards.
Also, it is an accredited institution with full time staff, deans, etc...not like many paper mills where there is an owner and a secretary [maybe] grinding out degrees for fees.
As for Orthodoxy....I think you will find it fascinating, interesting and eye-opening....

I still thank the Lord for your blessed school and for the benefit I made out of my studies under your mentorship. In fact, in Egypt we lack such a school that teaches the theology of the Church Fathers. Schools here teach medieval theology rather than that of the Fathers.

Thank you for welcoming me aboard. It is an honor and a privilege of which I am unworthy to receive. However, I do believe it is the Will of our Lord,

Thanks again. I am going to begin the application paperwork. I am very excited about the depth of your program. It seems to be exactly what I have been looking for.

Many thanks to Bishop Melchizedek for the openness with which he heard my concerns and responded. It is such a pleasure and honor to work with him. He is a man of integrity, honor and goodwill.

Praise the Lord for St. Elias School and for allowing me to study at your school under your mentorship. I also want to thank you for your efforts and for working so hard with me on my studies...
Thank you again and may the Lord use you to bless me.
Yours sincerely,

Thank you so much. I am so happy and feel
so blessed.
I have downloaded the application form,
which I will complete and add copies
of my degrees and transcripts and other
materials and mail to you by this
weekend.
What a wonderful opportunity for me to be
able to study Orthodox Theology.
This is an answer to both dreams and
prayers...
Blessings, and
May God Richly Bless You,

I would also like to thank you for the greeting that was sent by you to St.
Elias' students. I have been consistently impressed by your most Christian
approach to people, life, and the daily problems of life. Thank you for the most inspiring greeting. Once again, I must say that I am impressed by the
approach you have to people and life; your approach seems to be most Christlike. Thank you.
I find myself so very glad that I have found St. Elias School and particularly that you have continued to advise my studies… I find that my studies are extremely interesting, hold my attention, and are adding to my own personal growth.
(Sr.) Mary C. Sheridan, IL (Roman-Catholic), 2003/04
Thank the Lord for leading me to you and your school.
I am grateful and very happy that I learned a lot as I
was preparing the papers. I am almost done with the
first paper and will send it to the school this week...
Fr. M. Hanna, Eqypt (Orthodox), 2003
I mentioned before how I am benefitting from the curriculum outlined in the Study Binder. But I feel I should also mention how I have benefitted from association with St. Elias. While it is a sad fact that scholars are judged by the company they keep, it is good to know that my 'company' with St. Elias is judged in a positive light by my peers in academia.
Ed Moore (Greek Orthodox), 2003
My brother,
Thank you and CONGRATULATIONS to the graduates.
You do such wonderful work for the Lord!!!!
Peace and blessings,
Bishop Jerome, MO (orthodox-catholic), 2002
I have been offered a position as a Latin teacher at a
private Christian school in Sevierville. This would not have been
possible, no matter my level of skill, without the degree awarded by the St. Elias School. It will make a big difference in my life.
Working only 40 hours a week will give me lots more time to serve my
parish and my jurisdiction and ... I'll be able to spend more time with my family as well. I simply cannot thank you enough!
Rev. Andreas Turner, TN (Oriental Orthodox), 2002
...I chose St. Elias after comparing it with other distance
learning seminaries, when I concluded that the courses of study are
solid, and the cost is reasonable. I am satisfied with the texts I've
encountered so far, and am confident that you will be readily available
down the road should I need any assistance with the more difficult
sections...My goal is to eventually teach at a seminary, and to publish books on theological topics that I would like to address, once I am sufficiently educated in the field. I have no reason to believe that St. Elias is not adequate to help me achieve those goals.
Eward Moore (Greek Orthodox), 2002
"Hello! - Thanks for the important work you do in preparing future leaders for Christ's church! May God bless you very richly! With every best wish, Sincerely yours,"
The Rev. Dr. Thomas D. Schwartz (Protestant), 2002

Jim Jackson (Episcopal, ECUSA), 2001

"I have just enrolled for the first time in your school...I like the looks of your program and may complete..."
Dr. Wilson Van Dusen (Author),1995
"I have enjoyed being related to St. Elias. I look forward to being an alumnus and want to continue supporting and praying for it."
Dr. Henri Yaker (Protestant), 1994
"Bishop Melchizedek, I look forward to hearing from you. It is a particular honor for me and the Academy to seek affiliation with you. May God bless your work. I know He does."
Rev. Peter Riola (Alcuin Academy), 1994
My vision of the future is no longer of people taking exams and proceeding then on to that certification..., but of individuals passing from one stage of independence to a higher one by means of their activity through their own effort of will which constitutes the inner evolution of the individual.Dr. Maria Montessori [1870-1952] |
