Module I

The goal of this first level is to obtain basic knowledge as outlined in Orthodox manuals and handbooks for theological Seminaries such as that of the Rumanian Orthodox Church Liturgica teoretica, published in 1987.

  1. Basic Theological elements: Living from Liturgy
  2. Service as Theophany
  3. The structure of the Divine Liturgy
  4. Signs of piety
  5. Liturgical vestments
  6. Liturgical vessels
  7. The church building
  8. The Church year
  9. Calendar Questions

In residential settings, a Script and/or other literature will be provided for the above named subjects.

Module II

The goal of this level is an in-depth study of previous knowledge obtained.

  1. Theology and Experience of Liturgy
  2. History of the Byzantine Liturgy
  3. Theology of the Icon

In residential settings, a Script and/or other literature will be provided for the above named subjects.

Module III

The goal is practical application of the material and knowledge obtained.

Under guidance of a Mentor, the lay student is to write a short Paper about the Theology of an Orthodox Feastday based on hymnology, festal Icon and liturgical aspects.

The student who has already been ordained is to learn how to celebrate Liturgy, i.e. introduction to the Rite, canting & music as well as various rituals.
