For the past year, St. Mary's High School in Hamilton, Ontario has been fundraising to build a school/medical clinic in the Dominican Republic. Thus far, we have raised $13,000 by means of 2 car washes, a penny drive ($3,000), and a massive garage/craft sale. 15 students and 6 supervisors travelled to the town of San Jose de Ocoa for one week. The group members were responsible for coming up with the funding for the trip, and did so with the help of generous sponsors. During that week, the group travelled to the small, poverty stricken village of Las Caobas. There they worked for three days hand in hand with the villagers digging the foundation for the much needed school, Santa Maria. These 21 people would like to share with everyone, their life changing experiences. |
