Love: A Variation on a Theme
If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place,
but have not love, I am a housekeeper not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements,
but have not love, my children learn of cleanliness -- not Godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before It wipes up spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before It picks up the toys.
Love is present through the trials.
Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive.
Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the
child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adult hood.
Love is the key that opens salvation's message to a child's heart.
before I became a mother, I took glory in my house of perfection.
Now I glory in God's perfection of my child.
As a mother, there is much I must teach my child, but the
greatest of all is love.

A Mother's Love is Heaven Sent
God must have known there
would be times
We'd need a gentle touch,
A tender
understood heart
to love us every much...
He must have known
we'd need somone
to listen to our cares,
to comfort and remember us,
in loving thought and
prayers...
So in his boundless wisdom,
God sent us from above,
the dearest blessing in the
world...
A mother's sweet love!
A friend in my heart .... A Thousand Miles Away
To know a soul who's far away
to read each other's mind
to see one's views but not her face
'tis magic of some kind.
I am no man of easy words
but as I write these lines,
I dare to think one thought anew,
I found a friend in You.
I never touched the hand which writes
the lines I learned to love,
I hope you'll sometimes hear this song
I wrote for you to cary on.
A friend in my heart
a thousand miles away,
Is nothing for my friend
is here with me today.
I have a friend in You.
Infinity's Shore
Now at dusk as shadows creep
The sun sets in the west to sleep
And scattered stars do wander in
To bathe in waters cold and deep.
Far from city lights I stand
Where milky ocean meets the land
And Universe does yearning run
Her fingers on the silver sand.
I am here with those before
Who lost themselves upon this shore
Faces blurred in starry spray
Voices drowned in ocean's roar.
And I have heard the sweet sea's song
And towards the ocean I am drawn.
Now the scattered stars are racing
Fading in the dawn.
As busy morning's trumpet sounds
I drift into the peace I've found
I wade into the scarlet sea
And in starlight drown.
For My Loving Parents
What is a happy
family made of?
Hearts full of memories,
Closeness and caring,
Warmth and affection,
Good times and sharing,
Laughter and pride,
Contentment and love...
That's what a happy family's
made of....
A Friend Is....
...someone with whom you can
really be yourself, one who
appreciates the good in you.
overlooks the bad in you...
and brings ou the best in you.
With a friend you can share a laugh,
a secret, a viewpoint, a success
or disappointment, and a complete
assortment of problems, large and small.
A friend is someone who
understands silences
as well as words. one who is with you
and for you, who lifts you up
and never lets you down...
who makes you feel it's a
pretty nice old world after all.
A friend is someone who knows
all about you
and loves you just the same.
To my Sister..my Friend
For there is no friend like a sister
in calm or stormy weather,
to cheer one on the tedious way,
to fetch one if one goes astray,
to lift one if one totters down,
to strengthen whilst one stands
Christina Toossem
One hundred years
from now,
it will not matter
what kind of car I
drove,
what kind of house I
how much I had in the
bank,
nor what my clothes
looked like.
But the world may be
a little better
because...
I was important in
the life of a child.
Reign
Before you start on your crusade,
And throw your weight around.
Tell the rest of my parade,
"The rain is coming down."
Let it fall all over me,
'Cause I dn't use my eyes to see
Or legs to stand anymore.
You're gonna ruin everything.
We'll scream into my ear.
Hold on as we wipe away the tears.
Let them fall over me
'Cause I don't use my eyes to see
Or legs to stand anymore.
Tell me, would you even care
If I went up in smoke
Or coughed on everything I choked down today?
Tell me, is this just a dream?
If so, I'll let it fade.
Self-inflict my wounds again.

To a Friend
I'd like to be the kind of friend
That you've been to me;
I'd like to be the special help that
You've been glad to be.
I know I'm blessed for only God can
Make a friend like you;
You know just how to cheer me up
Whenever I feel blue.
Could I but have one wish fulfilled,
This one only would it be--
I'd like to be the kind of friend
you've always been to me.

My Prayer for You
When you're lonely,
I wish you love.
When you're down,
I wish you joy.
When you're troubled,
I wish you peace.
When things are complicated,
I wish you simple beauty.
When things are chaotic,
I wish you inner silence.
When things look empty,
I wish you hope.
Suicide
When the sun's last golden rays,
Race darkness to horizon's end.
And Quiet comes and gently lays,
Her will, and to it all things bend.
A pause, the calm before the storm,
That smothers life's now final fear.
Then shall I come and call your name,
That in stillness you might hear.
When Autumn shivers in her blanket,
Quilted from her foolish pride,
Golden daughters too soon ripened,
And plucked from life and love they died.
Now are scattered, now are lost
Beneath cruel Winter's icy seal,
Then shall I come and take your hand,
That in coldness you might feel.
When in life's long and final days,
The sinful soul to heaven looks,
And Death has come to guide my way,
Along the path you willing took.
Covered now in lonely blackness,
Where empty winds do often blow,
Then shall I come and hold you tight.
That in darkness you might know,
We are here forever more,
And I will never let you go.
