July 23 - 27
St. Peter's Union Church held Vacation Bible School from July 23rd thru the 27th. We held a closing program during the church service on Sunday, 29th, where everyone showed off what they learned during their Vacation Bible Experience!
Look at all the fun we had!
The disciples were terrified when they were caught on the stormy sea. But with
                 a word, Jesus calmed the
wind and the waves. Like the
                 disciples, we're called to
                 believe in Jesus' Power.
Jesus often taught his followers while sitting by the lake. In Jesus' parable of the sower, we hear how we are to learn and grow in faith.
After his resurrection, Jesus surprised his disciples with a breakfast by the shores of the Lake of Galilee. As they ate together, the disciples were nourished and strengthened to carry on Jesus' work in the world. Likewise, we are called to a new understanding of Jesus.
The story of Lydia and her riverside conversion illustrates how the early church grew as the good news was passed from person to person. We are all called to spread the good news, too.
In the story of Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River we meet Jesus, God's own dear Son, and are reminded that through Baptism we, too, are made children of God.
