Fethers magical quanities are dertermind by their colors, and their magickal quanities can also (sometimes) be determind by which bird that they have came from.   IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM HARM A BIRD TO GET A FEATHER. Just pick up the feathers you find on the ground or in other places

White: Serenity, purification, hope, protection, blessings of the moon, spirit. Green: Money, firtility, growth, earth. Brown: Health, grounding, the home. Orange: Attraction, success, energy. Yellow: Intelligence, blessings of the sun, air. Red: Good fortune, life, courage, fire. Pink: Love, friendships. Grey: Peace, neutality. Blue: Peace, psychic awareness, health, dreams. Black: Not recommended to use. Red and Brown: Healing the creatures of the forrest. Brown and Grey: Balance, hope. Grey and Black: Protection, union. Green and Red: Finances, bills. Blue and White: Change. Black and Purple: Balance and hope.
