Darkest Days is the 3rd Stabbing Westward album and it was released on April 7th.
Here's how the band described Darkest Days:
Darkest Days is made up of 4 acts, each portraying a differnt emotional phase one goes thru after a break-up. The first act is about the ways you mess up (Darkest Days, Everything I Touch I Break, How Can I Hold On, and Drugstore). The second act is about being hopefull the person is still around (You Complete Me, Save Yourself, Haunting Me, Torn Apart, and Sometimes It Hurts). The third act is about hitting bottom (Drowning, Desperate Now, and Goodbye). The fourth act is about emerging from darkness and sticking to what you believe in (When I'm Dead, The Thing I Hate, On Your Way Down, and Waking Up Beside You).
The first single from the album is "Save Yourself" and the second is "Sometimes It Hurts". "Haunting Me" is the third single and is on 'The Faculty' soundtrack.
Here are my predictions for the songs off Darkest Days that will be big hits: Haunting Me, You Complete Me, Sometimes It Hurts, and Waking Up Beside You.
You will need RealPlayer installed on your computer to listen to the streaming RealAudio [RA] clips. At times, due to internet congestion, the [RA] clips may cut in-and-out or pause. I recommend using [RA] instead of [wav] because RealAudio loads much faster. The Darkest Days soundclips are linked from www.stabbingwestward.com due to server space limitations on this account.

Darkest Days Advanced Release Promo
This Darkest Days CD is the advanced release promo which is not in a plastic jewelcase, but in a white cardboard sleeve. There is no artwork. The sticker on front (right) has the track listing and the back sticker has a quote from Chris Hall and then a little bit about the album. The album tracks are exactly the same as the released version. | |
Here's what Andy Kubiszewski (SW programmer, drummer) has to say about the new album: "It's a very organic record...very raw and live...many of the tracks are first takes...we went for vibe more often than accuracy...everyone sounds great...but, I'll warn you now...it's a very different record for Stabbing Westward...cover art is being done by Dave McKean (Sandman comic book creator)...it's very dark...much like the disc itself...the next step in the evolutionary chain."
