"On the 31st, we were on our way up to Nelson in the van, and about an hour past Kaikoura it started making horible rythmic knocking noises. So we consulted the indepth manual. It told us the engine was fucked. So we kept driving. Eventually we were down to first gear going up a small hill and some incredible smells were coming from the engine. The engine stopped and never started again. So six strange people in a non-functional van spent new years in a cow paddock about as far away from anywhere in New Zealand as it is possible to get. Despite the circumstances we managed to have a joyfull time and had a lovely

two day holiday in the padock. On the 2nd the AA towed us to Kaikoura and Michael's father picked us and the van up (undersized vehicle trailer). Due to the small nature of the trailer the van has an extra dent or eight. Apparently the van is now getting a reconditioned diesel put in. Michael Avery will be adding his piece to the website soon with photos of the trip.

This year I am attending a 1 year course in graphic design at the National College of Design and Technology, don't ask me why. This year my goals include turning 18 (although it might take half a year) and continuing the tradition of many random activites. Thats it from Simon.
