My Favorite Things:
Reading mysteries, playing cards, dominoes, dancing, oh yes, and golf.
A Little Background ...
I am Janet, youngest daughter of C.J. and Carrie Marie Stahl. Pete and I have four children: Judi, Steve, Tim and Peggy. All but Tim are married and have given us six wonderful grandchildren.
47 years ago, Pete and I lived in Wayne, where Pete taught in the Carey, Fostoria, and Lakota public schools (at different times). We moved to Bucyrus where we lived for two years with Pete teaching at the high school there, and then moved to Massillon where we stayed for the next thirty years.
Pete retired as a public school administrator, and I retired from the Massillon City Schools as a secretary in the Central Office. We decided to strike out for parts unknown, and ended up in Florida, where we moved full-time in December, 1998.
One of my fondest memories as a child, was visiting Uncle Everett and Aunt Helen and their family. Dad and Everett laughed a lot, and dad seemed to relax with him more than anyone else. I was so shy, it seemed it took almost till the last half hour of our visit before June, Jim and I started playing. I don't remember Jennie, she might not have been around at that time, or too little.
Way, way back, I also remember visiting Uncle Dan and Aunt Goldie. I understand dad lived with them when he was young, to help out on the farm. I recall lots of laughing when they were together. Once when we went to the farm, Uncle Dan had had cataract surgery, and his head was held securely in place with sandbags on each side. Scared me a lot. Certainly different from the cataract surgery of today!
Dad loved his kids and grandkids. He was particularly fond of our Judi because she and I stayed with Mom and dad for six months while Pete was on a Mediterranean Tour in the Navy. He was a gruff, sober man most of the time, but so very gentle and sweet to her. He was that way with all the kids, and very, very generous. He loved to buy things for them!
I am terribly proud to be a Stahl and see I many Stahl qualities in my children. Yes, there is a little stubbornness, but it could also be called strength. I am so glad Peggy is doing this Website. I think it's wonderful that with this technology, we can communicate with each other.
I'll close my bio with an invitation to anyone coming to Florida. We have a guest house that sleeps two comfortably, with a sleeper sofa in the main house for two more. We're about an hour and a half (or less) from Orlando, an hour from Daytona, and an hour or so from Tampa and the gulf. The price is right, and if you golf, we have a great course here.
Golf is our main passion. Our house is on the tenth fairway, and we have a small pool for those who want to relax.
I hope we continue to find out about one another. I hope the rest of you send in news about yourselves. |
