STAMP-N-TELL GETTING TO KNOW YOU ***KATHARINE WARMERDAM*** |
1. Tell us a little about yourself, your family, your job, your home, etc. I am a stay at home mom with four kids. Sarah is 19 and in a Christian training program this year and will graduate in August. David is 17 and graduating from high school next month. Michael is 8, and Jacob is almost 6. I home school them. Hubby and I have been married for 21 years. He works on a dairy. Our family has been accepted into a Habitat for Humanity program, and have been busily putting in our 500 *sweat equity* hours in lieu of the downpayment for our new house. It will be built in August and finished soon thereafter. We are so thrilled to finally be getting our own home! As part of our hours, I've been making 500 cards for fundraising projects. What a task! 2. How did you first get involved in stamping? I bought a stamp at a craft festival to decorate envelopes with. It was several years later before I found embossing powder, and used to stand over a bare lightbulb embossing the images from that one stamp. Five years ago, we had recently moved to a new area and I got a flyer about a rubberstamping demo day at a local shop. I went and was hooked! 3. What is your favorite technique? At the moment, I am really enjoying doing different backgrounds. There are so many different looks, and jewel tones have really caught my fancy. :) 4. What is your favorite card you have ever made: one you are the proudest of? I really like the caterpillar card I made for AOTM. Whimsical images and sarcastic sayings just crack me up. 5. What are your favorite stamp companies and why? My current favorite is Oxford Impressions. I found them recently and just LOVE the My Fair Lady plate. I'm using some of those images for the 500 card project for Habitat. 6. What are your favorite type images you use in stamping? I love whimsy, asian, dragonflies, finely drawn botanicals, and whatever grabs my fancy for the day. LOL 7. What are your favorite colors? Jewel tones. Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald..... 8. What is one dream you have that you wish could come true? That I would have enough money not to have to tell my kids, "we can't afford that" every time you turn around. 9. What is your biggest pet peeve? Rude, controlling, arrogant people. 10. Anything else you would like to share? Like things you collect, things that make you happy, and so on? I've learned in the last year or so, that we have to find the things in life that give us joy and make time for them to feed our soul. For me, those things are spending time with my family, my special, loving, supportive friends, and creating artwork with my stamping. Those things nourish me and fill me so that I can give of myself to others. My favorite song is *Who I Am* by Jessica Andrews. It really speaks to the things I've learned about myself, and growing to accept my strengths and weaknesses. |
