STAMP-N-TELL GETTING TO KNOW YOU ***MICHELE PRYOR*** |
1. Tell us a little about yourself, your family, your job, your home, etc. I live in a 6 bedroom, 5 bath home in Morgan Hill, CA with my husband of almost 21 years. I always seem to have one of my many nieces/nephews or great nieces/nephews living with me. At the moment, my 30 yr. old niece and her 2 kids (11 and 7 yrs old) are with me. We have a dog named Moose that looks and acts alot my husband. I have one daughter, Connie Gumby Davis, the product of a one-night stand with the famous Gumby himself. DH is a self employed diesel mechanic, works on heavy equipment. His shop is here on the same property as the house, so I am always surrounded by BIG trucks and tractors. I am very lucky to have the best parents in the world, and they live near by, so I see them often. 2. How did you first get involved in stamping? A girl that I rented a room to gave me a stamp of a feather. I stamped everything I could find with it, including DH's invoices! Then I went looking for a different color of ink, and was astounded to see all the rubber stamps and inks and stuff that existed. I just started buying everything I saw, and haven't stopped since. Right around this time (about 5 or so years ago), I got a computer and got connected to the internet. I came across the BIG RS list. OMG! I didn't know there were other people that liked rubberstamps too, and they actually did something with them! The first 4 months I was subbed to the big list, I saved every single message, because it all sounded like greek to me, so I saved them to figure out later. 3. What is your favorite technique? Laurel knows me VERY WELL, and this is what she says: My favorite technique is to be very compulsive and stamp a zillion images and make 2 zillion backgrounds and then shove them in drawers everywhere. I really like to play with messy stuff and wipe my fingers all over my clothes. I say that I am only "slightly" compulsive. I think I really like mixing colors and playing with reinkers best. You never know what you will come up with! 4. What is your favorite card you have ever made: one you are the proudest of? When someone asks me something like this, I go completely blank, and can't even think of one card I have ever made! My favorite is probably whichever one I made last. 5. What are your favorite stamp companies and why? I really like The Write Impression, Peddlar's Pack, Me & Carrie Lou, Parked on Rubber. OK, I admit, I have never seen a stamp I didn't like. 6. What are your favorite type images you use in stamping? I have always loved hearts, especially floral hearts, and used to feel the need to own every one that was ever made. But now I have grown a little, and realize I only need most of them, not all! I also like floral images and abstract designs. I seem to be attracted to Asian/Oriental images, because I own so many of them, but have never made anything with them. 7. What are your favorite colors? I like bright, clear colors. yellow, pink, purple, red, etc. Brown is not on this list though. 8. What is one dream you have that you wish could come true? My heart's desire, is that my great-niece Katie, would move back from Iowa, to my house, where she belongs! Once again, Laurel knows me very well and provided this answer: That my refridgerator never runs out of lemon bars and Laurel was here to share them with me. I would also add that I would love to have a week somewhere, to spend stamping with all of you, and laughing and having fun. When I am a little old lady (soon), I want to be living in a home with Laurel and V, sitting on the front porch in our rocking chairs, talking about the rest of you, while Linda E is cooking up lemon bars and Lorri is continually baking goodies for us. This would be heaven! 9. What is your biggest pet peeve? When Linda E's lemon bars are all gone! Anyone that really knows me, knows that I don't let anything bother me. I haven't a care or a complaint in the world! HUH???? (editorial) 10. Anything else you would like to share? Like things you collect, things that make you happy, and so on? I adore my 15 great nieces/nephews! I used to have them all to my house for a weekend every summer for a bash we called "CUZ we're CUZINS"! It was great fun, but I think they wore me out. Laurel says: I love to collect stuff, any stuff, anybody's stuff, the more the better. My friends make me happy. Lemon bars make me happy. This is only partly true. |
