A few minutes after he first said hello to Melrose star KELLY RUTHERFORD, CARLOS TARAJANO made a quick sketch that got her thinking she had just found her match

Kelly Rutherford was eating lunch with a friend on New York City's Upper East Side when Caries Tarajano, a handsome banker raised in Venezuela, introduced himself and asked what they were doing with the rest of the afternoon. After Rutherford, who played Megan on Melrose Place, announced that they were going engagement ring shopping just for fun, Carlos sketched his vision of the perfect ring for her on the paper tablecloth. "There was something different about him," Kelly says. "I actually had the thought that I had just met the man I was going to marry." Her prediction came true when he proposed to her six months later, giving her a 3-plus-carat emerald-cut diamond flanked by tapered baguette diamonds in a platinum setting—a real-life version of the ring he had sketched the day they met.
