Anniversary Hymn
R.Wedgwood [1999] [alt. 2004, 2008]
Converse 8.7.8.7D
1.We're proud to worship
at St Andrew's, 'neath the high cross bold and white.
Many years of faithful
worship, of the Word and of the Light.
All the people of
Lakemba, know that we are here to stay,
Following a proud
tradition, folk committed to the Way.
2.All our vicars have
been faithful. After Philip paved the way,
Bill served us for
thirty-eight years, Cecil's twenty-eight year stay.
Oz and Laura gave
assistance, James and Tom across the range.
Paul, Jeff, Greg and Jim, our
rectors, grappling with a world of change.
3.Attenborough, Dean and
Kingston, Rushby, Rowles and Gordon too,
A heritage of faithful
servants, Toland family here right through.
Our genesis was in the
railmen, come to labour down the hill,
Their prayers have
soared beyond the roof slates, inspiration for us still.
4.Our church is not just
bricks and mortar, it's bound by peoples' love and care;
Fabrics of support and
friendship, witnessing the Truth we share.
Come and join us at St
Andrew's, and share in our liturgy:
Great and joyful
celebrations, now we've reached our year eighty!
