StandUp! needs you.
StandUp! is an organisation of unemployed and social security
activists dedicated to defending the social security system and fighting for
the right for everyone to have a decent livelihood. We campaign against work
tests, private job network agencies, against cutbacks in government spending
and against work for the dole. Our members are volunteers. Until now we have
been auspised by South Sydney Community Aid but unfortunately they took away
this auspice, leaving us without money or an office. Currently we are
surviving on donations.
StandUp! wants to campaign for you. We need people to assist us
with information. If you have been abused by bureaucrats in CentreLink, we
want to know. The more we know, the more we can organise. Tell us about your
work for the dole scheme. If you have an oppressive job network agency, tell
us. The more we know about what private job networks get away with the better
we can campaign against both the agency concerned and the system of private
job network agencies.
StandUp! needs you to contact us with information, assist us in the
distribution of leaflets and posters, come to our meetings and contribute. Our
meetings are totally democratic and everyone is welcome to have their say.
If you are a member of a trade union, we would appreciate your
support in campaigning against work for the dole. Work for the dole is an
attack on employed workers as well as unemployed people. This year
StandUp! will be lobbying unions to take action. WE plan to demonstrate
against work for the dole providers such as H&H inc who profit out of this
work for dole slave labour.
Come to our meetings every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at South
Sydney Leagues Club, Chalmers St, Redfern from 6 pm.
