THE LAWYER

Whether guilty, or not, he'll still be paid
Weaver of words, he's a lawyer by trade
"Easy!", he says with a cynical smile
While he spins lies to cajole and beguile,
Artfully embroiders upon the truth,
Enhances his client's poor mispent youth
All for the benefit of a jury
He creates his case - his client goes free.
This lawyer, he'll pursue justice for all
(The profit from justice is seldom small)
He maintains that within our jails languish
True innocents who exist in anguish.
He reassures us he really does care
(But it's their own fault they end up in there)
They should really hire his excellent skills
(When they can afford exhorbidant bills)
In truth he would say it's a job from hell,
But mortgage your morals - it'll be swell!
Lawyer he is now, and lawyer he'll be
Sentenced to contempt for eternity.
