Diva |
I rescued Diva from a family in South Carolina that had been given her as a gift to replace their recently deceased
poodle. The family had their heart set on another poodle and didn’t think a Cocker was right for them.
One of my friends was worried Diva would get hit by a car because she was always out in the street. My friend
voiced her concern to the family and they told her they would be more than happy to get rid of the dog. Lucky me,
I happened to be visiting South Carolina. and my friend knew I had two other black Cockers so she asked me if I wanted
her. Of course, I said YES!
To date I do not have Diva’s AKC papers although the family she came from assured me she was purebred. I am constantly on a quest to get these papers so maybe one day I can call her AKC. She looks to be a purebred and is beautiful! People are constantly approaching me when we are out and telling me what a gorgeous dog I have. Because of her lack of papers, I am not quite sure about her birthday but we think she was born somewhere around the summer of 2001.
Diva's temperament is very sweet, and she's smart, too. Her best trick is to give "Hi Five"!
In the picture on the left she is snuggled up with a red teddy bear in the middle of our great room. That teddy is
one of her "babies". She drags around stuffed animals and "kills" them for me -- chewing
off their noses first and then pulling out all their stuffing!
I won’t be breeding Diva for a while as she only just had her first heat. Although she doesn’t currently have papers, I think she will make beautiful puppies sometime in late 2003.
Well, after Diva's "accidental" litter last May, I decided to have her spayed. Her puppies were gorgeous but since I have never received her AKC papers from the previous owner, I decided it was smarter to get her fixed. I think she was relieved not to have to give birth(not to mention) carry around 8 puppies ever again!
