Some thoughts on Repentance from the book ARTICLES OF FAITH by James E Talmage in the year 1890

Dear Friends,

It so easy to see and hear things about all those around us, friends and fellow-workers and relatives. They have so many faults that need correcting, can they not see how offensive they can be?

New Testament: James Chap 3, Verse #2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man,.....

Then, of course we are so use to doing our own thing, that we don't take time to stop and check ourselves out.

When we start to get in the habit of forgiving others around us we then have a better view of our own life. Our tolerance level of both ourselves and others is not that high too start with.

Once we start to comtemplate everyones faults including our own, then we can start to understand the reason for repentance. It is also so much easier when we start to work on our own sins that we have the support of those other people around us that are trying to perfect themselves on a daly basis.
