Episode 1 - Downsize:
Synopsis:
We are introduced to David Brent, who is told by head
office that his branch of Wernham Hogg might be shut down.
Desperate to keep his employees happy, he stupidly tells them that there will be no redundancies. Tim and Gareth are arguing over a stapler, that Tim has put inside a jelly. This provokes Tim to buils a wall of files between their desks. David shows round a new temp, Ricky. To show him the jokey atmosphere at Werham Hogg, he plays a practical joke on Dawn, telling her she's fired for stealing post-it notes.

David: The lovely Dawn. Dawn Tinsley. Receptionist. Been with us for ages haven't you?
Dawn: You are such a sad little man.
David: Why's he done that?
Gareth: I told I don't like jelly once. Don't trust the way it moves.
Dawn: Yeah.
David: I'd say, uh, at one time or another every bloke in the office has woken up at the crack of Dawn!
Dawn: What?!
David: Am I?...didn't know that.

Most embarrassing moment
David tells Dawn she's fired for stealing post-it notes, as a joke, and she breaks down. Out of embarrassment, David waits far too long to tell her.
