A/N: First time writing this pairing and in this fandom. It's a little twisted but I figure if these two ever got together it would be. For the contrelamontre "regret" challenge. Done in 35 min.

Red Line

“I should have killed you when I had the chance.”

Lauren lifted the leg over her shoulder and began to lick a path up the smooth inner thigh. She could smell Syd, all sweat and desire and she breathed in the heady scent.

“But then you wouldn’t be able to do that,” Syd whispered breathlessly.

“True.” She made her way slowly, teasingly, down toward the slim ankle and sucked on the mound, her mouth like a fire against the already heated skin. “But if I had . . . Vaughn would still be alive.” Her movements stilled and Sydney tensed. She never ceased to bring it up, to ruin the moment.

The blond crawled up her body until she was hovering over her. Her eyes raked over the skin at Sydney’s throat and obediently the brunette lifted her chin, baring more. Lauren ran a fingernail over the smooth skin, watching with satisfaction as a red line appeared in its wake.

“You would have looked so beautiful even with the blood sliding down your precious throat.”

She laid her hand flat against Syd’s breastbone and trailed it down over her chest, her stomach, her hip, clenching it fiercely in a grip that would surely leave bruises.

“I loved him, you know. More than anything.”

Her gaze was so intense, Sydney had to force herself not to look away.

“So did I . . . I would have done anything for him . . . but I couldn’t . . . not that time.”

“You should have died.”

She climbed off her and curled up on her side, back to Sydney. For a moment, Sydney lay there, unmoving. Finally, she leaned over the side of the bed and pulled the knife Vaughn had given her two years ago out of her jeans pocket. In one quick movement, she had Lauren pinned beneath her, knife at her throat.

“You’re right. You should have killed me when you had the chance.”
