She lays her head beside me
fights hard to keep her sanity.
hammering in her mind
word and deed unkind.
victim or, by choice, a target
cowardice or intellect
waves of anger breaking upon a shore
of hurt and pain,
inflicted in her mind
through word and deed unkind.
Thousand issues carried within her
from a past, unsolved and grim
slowly shattering walls of ice
melting mirrors cold and black
her choice to let the sunlight in.
When friendship turns into a dam
holding back the truth inside,
while though time defined,
no longer to be blind
to word and deed unkind.
Masks of friendship, love and warmth
of all a spirit can contain
of goodness and sharing,
of understanding, of healing pain
not seeing through mirages
makes a spirit blind
provocation of the left-hand ways
continuing wounds inflicted on the mind
through word and deed unkind.
Disguised as companion or as love
jealousy may reign,
cloaked as warmth and friendship
hits the sword of pain.
Not knowing what it will find
a spirit reaches out,
open heart and open mind
amazed by what to find,
a word a deed unkind.
The colour green is more than healing,
it sheds a light on jealousy.
At every turn a hurting word
a thought of non-existing supremacy
that will crush the need to share
and a silence falls as night.
In these moments of hurting stillness
rays of warmth and light
will darker and a coldness of drifting ice
slowly builds a shield inside.
