Eight women brutally knifed to death by an unknown assailant in the Martian Colonies. This is later found to be the same entity that committed several murders on planet Argelius in 2267.

Zefram Cochrane, now residing in the Alpha Centauri system, departs at the age of 87 for parts unknown. He is believed to have died, but his body is never found.

Spaceship Mariposa is launched for colonization of Ficus sector on November 27. The craft settles colonists on planet Bringloid V. It later crashes on planet Mariposa while attempting to settle a second group of colonists. There are only five survivors of the crash, who attempt to keep their colony viable using cloning technology.

Romulan Wars begin between Earth forces and the Romulan Star Empire. The war is fought with primitive atomic weapons, and the Romulan fleet is not even equipped with warp drive. Among the human casualties are several members of the Stiles family.

Two women knifed to death at Heliopolis City on planet Alpha Eridani II. The murders remain unsolved until 2267 when it is learned that the same entity had commited several similar murders on planet Argelius II.

Romulan wars ended by the battle of Cheron. The Romulans suffer a humiliating military defeat at the hands of Earth Forces.

Romulan peace treaty signed, establishing the Romulan Neutral Zone as a buffer between the planets Romulus and Remus and the rest of the galaxy, violation of which is considered an act of war. All negotiations were conducted by subspace radio, without face-to-face contact between the parties. The pact is known as the Treaty of Algeron.

United Federation of Planets incorporated. Starfleet established with a charter "to boldly go where no man has gone before." The Federation is governed by a Council, located in the city of San Francisco on Earth, and the Federation council president's office is located in the city of Paris. The Constitution of the Federation includes important protections of individual rights including the Seventh Guarantee, protecting citizens against self-incrimination.

The drug felcium is used to halt a plague on planet Onara. It is not realized at the time, but felicium, a product of planet Brekka, has powerfully addictive properties, making the Onarans dependent on the substance long after the plague has been controlled.

Sarek of Vulcan is born, the child of Skon and Solkar. He becomes one of the Federation's most distinguished diplomats.

Guinan has her last encounter with Q prior to 2365. The two are not particularly fond of each other.

The planet Deneva is colonized by the Federation to provide a freighting line base. The planet is held to be one of the most beautiful in the galaxy.

The Starship Archon visits planet Beta III in star system C-111. The planet's master computer, known as Landru, destroys the ship by pulling it out of orbit. Many Archon crew members are killed, but many more are "absorbed" into Beta III's computer-controlled society, becoming known as "the Archons" to the planet's inhabitants.

The U.S.S. Essex, (registry number NCC-173) a Daedalus class starship under the command of Captain Bryce Shumac and First Officer Steve Muller, is caught in an electromagnetic storm and destroyed above the class-M moon of planet Man-Bu VI. There are no survivors of the crew of 229. The fate of this ship remains a mystery until 2368. Shumac's immediate superior in the sector had been Admiral Utan Gnawers of Starbase 12.

The starship Horizon visits planet Sigma Iotia II, about one hundred light years beyond Federation space. The crew reports that the humanoid population of the planet appears to be on the verge of industrialization.

At this point, Starfleet has not yet instituted the Prime Directive of noninterference, and a member of the Horizon crew leaves behind a copy of a book entitled Chicago Mobs of the Twenties. The disastrous though unintended result is that the people of Iotia adopt the book as a model for their society.

Shortly after the contact at Sigma Iotia II, the U.S.S. Horizon is lost along with all crew members. Because of this, Starfleet remains unaware of the contact and the cultural contamination until radio signals from the Horizon are recieved a hundred years later.

Settlers from Earth establish a colony on planet Moab IV. They create a sealed, well-planned, genetically balanced biosphere in which they hope to forge a perfect society.

Last detonation of Kavis Alpha neutron star prior to 2366, when Dr. Stubbs used that star's burst as part of his astrophysical research.

Starfleet withdraws the last Daedalus class starship from service.
