Sarek of Vulcan and Amanda Grayson of Earth are married. Sarek would later describe his decision to marry the human Amanda as a "logical thing to do."

Spock is born, son of Sarek and Amanda. Spock, a Vulcan-human hybrid, becomes science officer on the Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike and Captain James Kirk. He later plays a crucial role in negotiating peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, and in the effort for Vulcan/Romulan reunification.
T'pring is born. When she and Spock are seven years old, they are telepathically joined by parental arrangement so that they will be married when they reach adulthood.

James T. Kirk is born in Iowa on Earth on March 22. He has at least one older brother, George Samuel Kirk.

S.S. Columbia crashes on planet Talos IV, crew member Vina is the only survivor. She is listed as an adult on the ship's manifest, although she appears as a youthful woman to Captain Pike some eighteen years later. The severely injured Vina is cared for by the Talosians, although their ability to repair her body is limited by the fact that they never seen a human before.

Spock, age 7, causes his parents considerable concern by disappearing overnight into the Llangon mountains near his home of ShirKhar in an effort to test himself with the traditional kahs-wan survival ordeal. His pet sehlat, I-Chaya, is seriously injured by a wild animal, and Spock chooses to have his pet euthanized by a healer rather than die a lingering, painful death.
Young Spock is telepathically joined to T'Pring in a ritual Vulcan ceremony arranged by their parents. Less than a marriage but more than a betrothal, the mind-touch insures the two will be drawn together at the proper time once they are grown.
Hikaru Sulu is born in San Francisco on planet Earth. He serves a distinguished career in Starfleet, first as staff physicist and then as helm officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise, and later as captain of the U.S.S. Excelsior.

Uhura is born in the United States of Africa on planet Earth. She becomes communications officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, and later serves at Starfleet Command in San Francisco.
A reclusive individual known as Mr. Brack purchases the planet Holberg 917-G, a class-M world in the Omega system. Brack is later discovered to be a pseudonym for the (nearly) immortal Flint.

The battle of Donatu V is fought near Sherman's Planet, in a region disputed by the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets.

Dr. Richard Daystrom invents duotronic computer technology and is awarded the Nobel and Zee-Magnees prizes. His revolutionary systems become the basis for the main computers used aboard the Starship Enterprise. Daystrom, still a relatively young man at this point, spends much of his later years trying to live up to this achievement, but is largely unsuccessful. Many years later he is recognized when the Daystrom Technological Institute is named in his honor.

First Starship Enterprise, NCC-1701, is launched from the San Francisco Yards facility in orbit around Earth. Captain Robert April assumes command of the Constitution class ship and begins a five-year mission of exploration. One of the ship's designers is a young engineer named Lawrence Marvick.
Pavel A. Checkov born. He is an only child. Chekov later becomes navigator and tactical officer on the Enterprise under the command of James Kirk, and also serves as first officer aboard the Reliant under Captain Clark Terrell.
Leonard McCoy enters college, pursuing a medical degree.

Kodos the Executioner seizes power, declares martial law, and orders 4,000 people killed on planet Tarsus IV when a food shortage caused by an exotic fungus becomes critical. Emergency supplies too late to prevent killings. Future Enterprise crew members James Kirk and Kevin Riley are among the nine eyewitnesses who survive the incident. Riley loses his parents in the massacre. Another surviving eyewitness is Kirk's friend Thomas Leighton. Later, a burned body is discovered and identified as Kodos. This was the last known record of Kodos prior to 2266, when it is learned the identification of the body is mistaken.

Lenore Karidian is born. Her birth is also the first known record of actor Anton Karidian, later discovered to be the same person who was known as Kodos the Executioner.

Spock chooses to enter Starfleet instead of the Vulcan Science Academy, thereby alienating his father, Sarek, until the Babel conference of 2267.
Charles Evans is born. His parents are part of an unsuccessful colonization project that ends with a disastrous crash on planet Thasus.

James Kirk enrolls in Starfleet Academy. Mallory, father of a future Enterprise crew member, helps Kirk get into the academy. One of his most influential professors is historian John Gill. Kirk's personal hero is Fleet Captain Garth, considered to be the prototypical starship captain, whose exploits are still required reading at the academy. Spock also studies under Gill, although Kirk and Spock were apparently not in that class together.
James Kirk, a midshipman at Starfleet Academy, befriends Ben Finney, an instructor. The two become so close that Ben later names his daughter, Jamie, after Kirk.
Ensign James Kirk serves on U.S.S. Republic, NCC-1371. He reports an error made by his friend, Ben Finney, causing Finney to be passed over for promotion. According to Kirk's report, Kirk had relieved Finney on watch and had discovered the circuits to the atomic matter piles improperly left open, endangering the safety of the ship. Years later Finney holds this against Kirk, believing the report to be the sole reason why Finney never attained the command of a starship.
James Kirk, apparently still on the Republic, visits the planet Axanar on a peace mission. The operation is a major achievement for Captain Garth, in overall charge of the mission. Starfleet awards Kirk the Palm Leaf of Axanar for his role in the assignment.
Kirk meets Gary Mitchell at the Academy. They become best friends, although Mitchell, attending classes taught by Kirk, would later describe Kirk as an instructor who forced you to "think or sink." Kirk later asks for Mitchell to serve under him on his first command. Another acquaintance of Kirk's is Finnegan, an upperclassman whom Kirk would later recall as having a penchant for practical jokes.
Starship Enterprise, under the command of Captain Robert April, returns from five-year voyage and begins refitting for the next mission. Christopher Pike assumes position of Enterprise captain.

Charles Evans, aged 3, is sole survivor of a spaceship crash on planet Thasus. He is cared for by the mysterious, noncoporeal Thasians, which give him extraorindary mental powers in order to insure his survival.
Kirk is romantically involved with Ruth. Kirk also becomes acquainted with R. M. Merrick, a student who is eventually dropped from the Academy when he fails a psycho-simulator test.

James Kirk graduates from Starfleet Academy. He is the only cadet ever to beat the "no-win scenario" of the Kobayashi Maru simulation. Kirk is awarded a commendation for original thinking for reprogramming th simulation to make it possible to win.
Lieutenant Kirk is assigned duty aboard the Starship Farragut under the command of Captain Garrovick.
U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Pike, is involved in a violent conflict on Rigel VII. Three crew members, including the captain's yeoman, are killed, and seven are injured. Pike later blames the incident on his own carelessness in not anticipating hostilities by the Rigelians.
"The Cage."
U.S.S. Enterprise, en route to the Vega colony, detects distress call from spaceship S.S. Columbia, which records indicate had disappeared near the Talos Star Group some 18 years ago. Investigation leads to discovery of the Columbia's crash site on planet Talos IV, and contact with the planet's indigenous inhabitants. The Talosians attempt to capture Pike in an effort to insure survival of their race, but Pike and the Enterprise escape by convincing the Talosians of human unsuitability for captivity.Lieutenant Kirk, commanding his first planet survey, befriends Tyree, an inhabitant of a technologically unsophisticated Class-M planet. Years later, Kirk returns to Tyree's planet when the Klingons intervene in a local dispute.

Last contact between the reclusive Sheliak Corporate and the United Federation of Planets prior to 2366. The two parties agree to the Treaty of Armens in which the Federation cedes planet Tau Cygna V to the Sheliak. The treaty contains 500,000 words and took 372 Federation legal experts to draft.

U.S.S. Enterprise, still under command of Captain Christopher Pike, completes Pike's first five-year mission of exploration (the second for the ship, counting Captain April's earlier mission) and begins a year of refit work in spacedock.

Lieutenant Kirk, still serving aboard the U.S.S. Farragut, (his first assignment after leaving Starfleet Academy) encounters a dangerous "vampire cloud" near planet Tycho IV. When facing the creature, Kirk hesitates for a moment before firing the ship's phasers, and afterwards feels responsible when the creature causes the death of 200 people, including Farragut captain Garrovick. Years later Garrovick's son serves aboard the Enterprise with Kirk in command.
U.S.S. Enterprise embarks on Captain Pike's second five-year mission of exploration (the third for the ship).
Karidian company of actors begins a tour of official installations under sponsorship of the Galactic Cultural Exchange Program. They are recognized for their performance of classic Shakespearian plays.

U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, completes its second five-year mission of exploration. The ship enters spacedock for a major refit. During this refit, the ship's crew capacity is boosted from 203 to 430.
Exploratory vessel S.S. Beagle, a small Class-IV stardrive vessel, crashes on planet 892-IV after having sustained meteor damage. The ship had been performing the first survey of the sector. The crew are captured by the planet's inhabitants and forced to fight as Roman gladiators. The ship's commander, Merrick, survives by becoming a strongman in local politics until 2267, when the U.S.S. Enterprise makes contact with the planet.
David Marcus born to Carol Marcus and James Kirk. Carol Marcus asks Kirk not to be involved with the boy's upbringing. Kirk does not see his son again until 2285.
Robert and Nancy Crater arrive at planet M-113 for archaeological research of the ancient ruins there. Nancy Crater is later killed by the last surviving native of the planet.
The last message is received from Dr. Roger Korby's archaeological expedition on planet Exo III. Korby's signal describes the discovery of underground caverns. Neither Korby nor his expedition are heard from again, and two subsequent expeditions are unsuccessful in locating them on the planet. Korby, who is known as the Pasteur of archaeological medicine, is recognized for his translation of medical records from the Orion ruins, resulting in a revolution in immunization techniques.
James Kirk is romantically involved with the future Janet Wallace. The relationship does not work out because of differences in career goals. Janet eventually marries a scientist, Theodore Wallace, a man 26 years her senior.
Spock meets botanist Leila Kalomi on Earth. Kalomi is romantically attracted to Spock, but Spock indicates he cannot return the feeling due to his Vulcan heritage.

Spock visits his parents on Vulcan for the last time before the Babel conference on the Coridan admission. The visit is strained because of Sarek's disapproval of Spock's career choice.
James Kirk sees Areel Shaw for the last time before Kirk's trial at Starbase 11. The two had been romantically involved.
James Kirk is promoted to captain of the Starship Enterprise and meets Christopher Pike, who is promoted to fleet captain.
Miners Childress, Gossett, and Benton begin work at the lithium mining operation on planet Rigel XII.
A group of 150 colonists under the leadership of Elias Sandoval leave Earth to settle on planet Omicron Ceti III.

Captain James Kirk, in command of the U.S.S. Enterprise, embarks on a historic five-year mission of exploration.
Harcount Fenton Mudd is convicted of purchasing a space vessel with counterfeit currency. He is sentenced to psychiatric treatment and his master's license is revoked, effective stardate 1116.4. Mudd had previously been convicted of smuggling, although that sentence had been suspended.
The real Nancy Crater is killed by planet M-113's last surviving native. The creature later assumes Nancy's form and lives with Professor Robert Crater, an archeologist studying M-113.
The Sandoval expedition arrives at planet Omicron Ceti III for colonization. Unfortunately, the planet is later found to have high levels of deadly Berthold rays, threatening the lives of the colonists.

Dr. Elizabeth Dehner, a psychiatrist studying crew reactions in emergency situations, joins the Enterprise crew when the ship is at the Aldebaron colony.
"Where No Man Has Gone Before."
Stardate 1312.4 The Enterprise encounters recorder buoy of the S.S. Valiant, which had disappeared near the galaxy's edge two centuries ago. Evidence from the buoy's record tapes suggest the ship was destroyed by her captain. Kirk orders the Enterprise to explore beyond the galaxy's rim, where the ship encounters a strange energy, resulting in the deaths of nine personnel. Gary Mitchell Kirk's friend from his Academy days, is somehow mutated by the barrier, and gains tremendous psychokinetic powers. It is later learned that psychiatrist Elizabeth Dehner had been similarly mutated as well. An attempt to quarantine Mitchell at the Delta Vega mining facility is unsuccessful, and Kirk is forced to kill him to protect the ship. Dehner is also killed in the incident.The Borg destroy Guinan's home planet. A small number of Guinan's people manage to survive by spreading themselves across th galaxy.
Planet Ingraham B is attacked by the same parasite creatures that later decimated the population of planet Deneva.

Dr. Leonard H. McCoy assigned to duty aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise as ship's surgeon. He replaces Dr. Mark Piper.
Dr. Simon Van Gelder is assigned as associate director of the Tantalus V penal colony. He serves on the staff of colony director Tristan Adams.
Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu accepts a transfer from staff physicist to helm officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.
