Your general, run-of-the mill post-Legion fic, though a bit sappier than most, perhaps.

This is a little unbeta-ed, snapshot-type Red Dwarf thingy, pretty tame. Full of Lister/Rimmer, as per. *g* As for ownership... They're mine, mine I tell you! All mine!! Oh look! Those nice young men in their clean white coats are coming to take me away...

Notes: I've only seen series 5 and 6 and a just a handful of the rest of the eps, so don't expect much. Oh yeah, and this is my first time, so be gentle. *eg*

Warnings: Rated PG-13. There's sap, there's guy-luvin', there's extraneous commas. If you don't think you can handle any of that (I know those commas can really get to people), now is the time to get.

Dedicated to all the wonderful writers at the Red Dwarf Slash Society, especially Dervla and Tronny, who showed me their cute little plotbunnies and made me want to adopt one of my own. :o) (09/05/01)

Come and Ease the Pain

He reached out with one hand, slowly, focusing completely on the motion. A second before his palm made contact he gasped slightly, afraid his fingers would pass through the other man's ship-issue uniform shirt and he would find this had all been some curry-induced hallucination. When his hand did indeed meet fabric, and he could feel under that solid, *warm* flesh, the air whooshed from his lungs as if he'd been hit in the chest by a particularly well-aimed football.

He glanced away from his hand and the indisputably tangible clothing beneath and gazed up in wonder at the other's face. Even as he watched, the man's cheeks grew more flushed, and his heavy-lidded eyes became hazy with lust. Without taking his gaze from the soft, swollen lips, he gently pushed at the man's chest, relieved when the man had to take a step back. The taller man smiled and let out and amused chuckle, responding without even opening his eyes.

"It's alright, Listy, I'm all here." On the last syllable he brought his hand up to cover his companion's, opening his eyes to gaze at those of his… lover. They stood like that for at least a minute, until the necessity to touch and to hold went beyond that which could be accomplished fully clothed.

Lister brought his hands to the buttons of the other's shirt, slowly, hesitantly unfastening each one until he could push the starched fabric over the pale shoulders and onto the floor. His hands grazed across the nearly hairless chest as they made their unhurried descent, before finally coming to rest at the top of the zip. He grasped the cool metal and leisurely hauled it downwards, moving tooth by tooth. Dragging the pants down, making sure they brushed against as much flesh as possible on the way, he was greeted by wiry curls and realized with a smile that the hologram wasn't wearing any knickers. When he finally stood and moved his hands to undress himself, he found they had begun to shake almost uncontrollably. He looked at his fingers, bewildered, as if he'd never seen them before.

"Rimmer, I ca--"

"It's okay, I can." With that he took the smaller man's hands into his own, placing a lingering kiss in each of the palms before positioning them on his own shoulders. Lister noticed that rather than moving slowly, almost cautiously, like he had, Rimmer made short work of his clothing, as if they'd already wasted so much time and didn't have a second to spare. When they were both undressed, the two men stood facing one another, mere inches apart.

Lister opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came forth; he paused, cleared his throat, and tried again.

"What do you want, Rimmer?" He asked because he wasn't sure himself.

The hologram leaned in, the tip of his nose grazing Lister's cheek. "I should have thought that would be obvious by now," he said, exhaling softly. "I want you."

With that, Lister drew him close, and there were no words.
