Eternity: Circle of love By Nara

original yaoi science fiction rating mature adults only, there's some smut in there somewhere:

It is the 7th day of year zero in the era of our regency.+My name is Evan Askins and I begin this story my last week on earth. Don't worry I'm not going to die. I guess I should give a brief history of the world to explain what's happening. This contradicts The Glorious Regency++ by the way. The wave will arrive in one week. What is the wave you ask? It is a mysterious energy moving through out the universe. Once it arrives all life on earth will end.

The Regency found this out nearly 1000 years ago. Since then they've been planning to survive the wave. They secretly built massive ships called arks. I don't understand the science but somewhere outside our solar system is a vortex. On the other side of this vortex is an earth like planet.

To keep all their plans secret the Regency toppled all major governments spinning the world into chaos. Two classes were formed, the uppers and the lowers. These two groups were so busy killing each other they didn't notice the Regency's activities. About 20 years ago, the truth came out. I'm considered an upper by most people. When I was a child the Regency took me from my family because I had mild telepathic abilities then. They seemed to have completely diminished now. The Regency keeps me around any ways. I've been told over and over again how lucky I am to have been chosen. In all honesty I believe the lucky ones will be the ones left behind.

`Evan Askins

+Era of our regency . Regency time works backwards counting down to the end of the world. It began 700 years ago. The first year was 700, the last is zero. There are no months and there are 300 days to a year. The years count down backwards also. The first day of the year is 300, the last day is one.

++The Glorious Regency , is a standard textbook extolling the virtues of the Regency. It is propaganda with no basis in fact

Day Seven

Count down until the end of the world.

“I'm sorry.” Evan whimpered for the 10th time. He lost his balance and fell again.. Somehow this day had gone so terribly wrong. It was suppose to be a special day but now it was a complete disaster. All because he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

“Get up!” Captain Dante Temple howled at him. Evan jumped back up instantly. If Dante would just stop pulling his hair, he wouldn't keep falling down. Dante pulled even harder on his blonde strands. Evan let out another whimper then he felt him self being flung into a wall, the metal stinging his face. He touched the back of his head amazed that he actually had any hair left. His captain glared down at him. Evan stared back knowing he should be afraid, but ending up lost in how beautiful Dante Temple truly was.

He had a tall, almost willowy frame. Underneath his clothes he was more muscular than one would think, Evan knew first hand. He blushed at that thought. Temple flipped his shiny silver hair over his shoulder. His rage was barely contained behind his purple eyes. Evan so loved Dante's eyes, a hue of violet so dark it was almost blue.

Genetic engineering had created some of the most beautiful people that had ever existed. Evan was an example himself. He had thick blonde hair, with shades of bronze and highlights of bright yellow. Even though Evan never rarely the ark he had a perfect tan. His facial features were exquisite, bordering on dainty. His nose was straight and slightly upturned. He had long golden eyelashes that framed gold eyes which were flecked with green. He had been featured in several genetic design magazines when he was younger. His appearance caused some controversy, for going against the Regency ideal. His mother had designed him. She had meant for him to be a girl originally, but his father had found out and insisted he be a boy.

A hard slap across his face brought him out of his musings. Temple shook him furiously.

“You're not listening Evan.” He yelled in his ear. Evan winced in pain. He doesn't have to yell I'm right here , Evan thought.

“HOW could you say something so utterly stupid? “ Dante yelled again. “To the general to my OLDER brother, you made me look like a fool!” He was positively livid. Evan remembered the beating he had received the last time Dante had been angry at him. The medic had healed him in a matter of hours, but it had still hurt like hell. Dante stepped on to Evan's hand, grinding his heel into his palm. Evan gritted his teeth, to keep from crying out.

“But there is a lot of space in the ark. We could put people in there.” Evan said, not looking up at him. Dante considered kicking him in his pretty face, but then thought the better of it. He would punish Evan later. Too many times the boy had pushed him into a rage. He didn't feel any guilt over beating Evan. The dumb blonde deserved every blow. Dante just hated losing control.

Only Evan could do that to him Dante lifted his foot off of Evan's hand and sighed. Evan was still looking down pitifully. Dante wondered why he even bothered with him. Why doesn't ever put up a fight? In spite of everything I do to him, the idiot stays with me, he thought. How can he still love me after everything?. Loyalty was a pillar of Regency law. That was why he kept Evan around, because he was loyal. That's what Dante told himself anyways. He knew Evan would never betray him. There was also the matter of Evan's latent psychic abilities. He was an invaluable asset. An asset he had to keep in line at all costs.

“Don't call me by my first name again.” He warned him. Even if the were lovers, Evan would still have to show him the proper respect. First he needed to set him straight about the arks.

“All the people who deserve to go are going.” Dante informed him, he was sure of that if nothing else. Evan stared down at the red mark on his hand now. Some of the skin had been broken but he wasn't bleeding. He couldn't look at Dante's angry face any more. I don't deserve to go, Evan thought to himself miserably.

“Do not question that you've been chosen, just be grateful you were.” Dante told him in exasperation.

“It's just doesn't seem fair...” Evan began and slumped over. He knew that the captain was right, but something inside of him said it was wrong. He knew he should be overjoyed, but all he felt was emptiness, the prospect of surviving should have more appeal. It didn't though. What is wrong with me? Evan asked himself . Of course a brand new world full of Regents was hardly anything to look forward to. How would it be any different from here?

Dante sighed, Evan was so naive, and his parents had been a bad influence on him. The boy had spent a good part of his life living among lowers. He'd picked up so many bad habits from them.

Who had parents any ways? Dante had been created from the d.n.a. of the Regency emperor Clauvius the ninth incarnation and one of his top generals. Dante, along with his six brothers, had awakened from incubators. Then they were watched over by Regency guardians all their lives. He'd only seen the Emperor once and that was from a distance. He didn't even know the name of the general, nor did he care.

Evan had actually been carried around in his mother's womb and then born. That was how lowers reproduced, it was disgusting. It explained why Evan was so inferior and emotional.

“Of course it's fair we're going to create a new and better world. Only the best of humanity has been selected.” Dante told him. The Regency was the last hope for the human race. How could Evan not understand this?

“But billions of people are going to die!” Evan cried out. Why was Evan so concerned about a bunch of strangers? Did it really matter if a bunch of inferior animals died? How could Evan get so worked up over something so insignificant? Dante had ordered Evan to cease with his silly emotions. Obviously Evan hadn't listened to him at all... Dante didn't want to lose control over someone he had given so much of himself to. This nonsense had to end. He'd been too indulgent lately. It was time to put Evan back into his place. Dante decided to do something drastic. .

“Then leave.” He told him in a flat voice.

“W-what?” Evan stared at him incredulously, mouth agape.

“You don't mean that Dant- Temple .” Evan corrected himself. Dante responded by kicking Evan in the chest. He could have easily cracked his ribs but held back. Evan let out a pitiful gasp, falling over in pain. It took all of Dante's self control to keep from smiling. This was how he preferred Evan, trembling and cowering.

“Get the hell out!” Dante yelled at him. ”Leave! Go die in the streets like the lowers you love so much. And consider our relationship over.” Evan stared up at him dumbfounded. This wasn't happening. Dante couldn't be serious. He'd been dumped before, but they always got back together. But to leave, leave and go where? Evan thought wildly. He'd only been off the ark once since he arrived. Evan felt tears stinging his eyes. This was worse that any beating he'd ever received. He had to make Dante forgive him.

“I'm sorry.” Evan whispered. “Please forgive me, I'm stupid. I'm worthless.” He gently rubbed Dante's leg. He had to think fast. How could he made Dante happy again?

“I want you to punish me, Lord Temple .” Evan said heavily, his hand caressing Dante's inner thigh. Dante caught his breathe, the little bastard was trying to seduce him. It felt like forever since they'd had sex. It had actually only been a few hours, but even that was too long. Evan's golden eyes burned with desire.

Dante ran his hands through Evan's hair. He was the most flawed upper Dante had ever met, but in the bedroom he more than made up for it. In the bedroom Evan was perfect. Since the first time Dante had taken him, and every night and day since, no one could even come close. Dante didn't feel like walking all the way back to his quarters though. Here would be fine, he thought. The only thing more satisfying than beating Evan up was screwing him. He trailed his index finger down Evan's face resting it on his lips. Evan began to softly suck on Dante's finger. Dante kept his face emotionless, but his insides were quaking. If Evan ever found out how weak he really made him.

Damn it! Dante thought. He's doing it again; he's making me lose control. He shoved Evan against the wall. So he wants it rough I guess, Evan thought a dangerous smile flashing across his face.

“You're pathetic.” Dante told him. Evan was confused, everything was going so well. He must have done something wrong again.

“Do have any idea how lucky you are to be with me?” Dante said

“Yes.” Evan nodded “I know how lucky I am Dante, I-” A swift kick to the stomach cut him off. Evan doubled over in pain.

“Never call me by my first name!” Dante roared. “I'm tired of wasting my time with you. There are plenty of other people on the ark I can sleep with. Oh wait. I am sleeping with them.” Evan clenched his fists together tightly. He knew that Dante had other lovers, but he never boasted about it. Was Dante that angry over some stupid comment?

“And you know what Evan?” Dante continued. “They're all much better lays that you. You're honestly the worst lover I've ever had.” Evan sat in shock, tears forming again. Dante's lips twisted cruelly, he was getting to him. Evan didn't want to believe it. If he was such a lousy lover, they wouldn't do it all the time would they?

“Close your mouth moron.” Dante laughed at him “Why are you so surprised? You never meant anything to me. I only fucked you because you were the closest warm body. Now kindly get your sorry ass off my ship.” Evan felt his lip trembling. Dante didn't mean this. He was just upset. He had to find a way to make it right.

“Why are you still here?” Dante asked him

“I love you, Lord Temple .” Evan said softly his voice breaking. ”I can't leave you.” Dante leaned in close to his love. He lifted his chin up so he could look right into to his golden eyes brimming with tears. Evan was so beautiful now. Dante wanted to take him so badly, but he held back.

“So what?” Dante said, the smile finally freeing itself. Evan burst past him sobbing. It was like the world had already ended. The captain looked after him, silly boy. He really had been spoiling him lately. He would have to discipline him severely.

Several hours later, Dante returned to Evan's quarters to teach him a lesson. He turned his pale pink lips into a frown. Where was he? Is he still sulking?

“Locate Evan Askins, Delphi .” Dante commanded.

“Evan Askins is not on the ship.” The computer responded

“What! Where is he?” Dante snapped

“Unknown.” The computer responded. Dante sighed, the machine was so stupid.

“When was he here last?” He asked impatiently

“He was last on the ship at 18:00 hours. He exited cargo bay 15 in his aero car.” The computer reported. That idiot had actually left. What was Evan thinking? He could get himself hurt or worse. Dante's mind went through dozens of scenarios. DIdn't Evan know the Regency was at war with the entire world. Terrible things had happened by the few who had been caught outside alone. He was even angrier now. How dare that boy cause him to worry? If something happened to Evan, if he never saw that blonde fool again...That won't happen, he told himself. Evan's a g.e., he can certainly take care of himself. He was an excellent swordsman, and he'd at least taken his lance with him. Still finding Evan was imperative.

He had to hurry before the drugs suppressing his telepathy wore off. Evan had been on another ark before this, they had tried to control his telepathy, but ended up killing the crew instead. Evan's mental abilities had wiped out a close to 900 people. He was in a catatonic state for months after that.

The Regency High Council had been split as what to do with him. It was a bitter feud between those who wanted him killed and those who thought him too valuable to execute. The Temples had won out and he was kept alive. Dante had to fight his six other brothers for the right to look after Evan. They'd never forgiven him for that. If it ever appeared Evan was out of his control he would lose him.

His older brother general Raphael and been after Evan for years. This morning during his surprise inspection, he had been shamelessly flirting with Evan. Dante had been watching them the whole time. Raphael had nearly convinced Evan to leave the ship for some ridiculous reason. Dante knew exactly what Raphael would do to Evan the moment he got him off the ark. He had decided to make an appearance at that time. Raphael had continued to flirt with Evan right in front of him. He'd hated Raphael the most ever since they were children. Raphael was the third oldest, his features were nearly the same as Dante's except his hair was as black as an abyss. He had strange highlights of red and purple, which always made Dante think of midnight. He was also taller than Dante for some reason. The general who helped to father them had requested Raphael's hair to match his own. Raphaell was close to their second father, that's why he advanced so quickly. Dante refused to suck up to anybody. He didn't even care to know his other father's name.

He would be the one to master Evan's powers, and then no one, not his family, not even the Regency could stand against him. He'd have to form a search party. He use only his best people, he didn't want Evan to know he'd actually been looking for him.

I have nothing to worry about, Dante told himself. Evan was the best swordsman next to him, he would be fine. Honestly a night out in the cold should bring him back home in the morning begging forgiveness. He strolled back to his own quarters. Evan would be back, after all the world would end in a week
