The Unicorns, Moondancers of the Vale and Free Folk of the Plain alike, called the stars 'Alma's Thousand, Thousand Eyes'.
Calydor, who lived among and was a Plainsdweller, was called by them 'Summer Stars', for thus is what his name meant. He was a dancer and a singer and a farseer, he dreamt dreams of what is to come and what has passed...

The Unicorns called themselves 'the Children of the Moon', for they believed that their goddess Alma, when making the world, had taken some of the Moon's skystuff and had molded it into the horns and hooves of all Unicorns. The Mother-of-all had blessed them this way, for the Unicorns were her most favored among all creatures.
Moondark was when no moon rose into the sky, a time of horrors and miricles. In the Vale, the Unicorns honored the Goddess at fullmoon, when the moon shone it's strongest and fullest upon the world, and they, honoring her, danced the Ringdance and told lays. Plaisdwelers, though, honored her at moondark, when no moon shown, and only Alma's Thousand Thousand eyes were there to guide them. They then danced the Longdance and also told stories of the creation of the world.
