Background: |
Prince Sword was of royal blood, oldest son and heir to the throne of Falcaria, unfortunately he didn't want it.
When he was in his teens, he began to rebel against the decorum and protocol associated with the royal court and the throng of nobles who often descended upon it. Sword's
father, King
Davyd
was a wise leader but had made enemies While these petty feuds were occurring, young Sword left the Homeworld and ventured into the reaches of the honorable sounding Falcarian Stellar Kingdom. However Sword avoided such principal worlds as Aldea though stopping at Airion, a virtual paradise where women ruled. He remained here for many months until he needed adventure. He went further into the frontier, coming upon the rugged colony of Creyna. He disguised himself and ventured into a world he had never known. A filthy, seedy place where criminals, pirates and other lawless folks went to avoid the police and Royal Army patrols. It was a very peculiar place for the crown prince of the realm to be. He was not naive nor had he been completely spoiled, learning blaster marksmanship and swordsmanship since he was a young boy. Martial arts he had excelled at and continued to tone himself even when his wise mentor passed on. However, his bravado nearly got him killed when he saw a woman in trouble with three burly men demanding she pay them 10,000 krowns. A hefty sum for these parts. She was not backing down but Sword could see they meant business, brandishing knives. He came to her assistance, taking two out while she took out the third. He ended up following her when several dozen other hoodlums chased after them. Her name was Glorina Starmate, a pirate. Twenty years of piracy, mostly against Alberag shipping had made him a rich man, though this wasn't why he did it, since he was always wealthy. It was the thrill of the hunt. However as the years passed, Sword reflected on his life and after he learned they were at war with the Alberag, returned home. His brother Jahn, detested having the prodical son returning after all this time, believing Sword and turned his back on the family and the Kingdom itself. Their father was glad to see his son, a gifted tactician.
Sword had become a DakTaan, a high-ranking officer, after several victories along the frontlines and when he returned home, he was given a hero's welcome. He also noticed a young noblewoman, Rosa. Her blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes were enough to make him be a one woman man. They were married shortly before he was to go out yet again. She bore him a son, Symon. However the tide of war had changed. The Alberag had brought to life bio-engineered soldiers, the Jaharabese, which were fearless as they were ruthless. Whole regiments of Royal soldiers were slaughtered on Daria, losing the colony. The Navy had to contend with Jaharabese infiltrators that would sabotage critical computer systems. Soon the Alberag were pushing into Falcarian territory until the Government believed Falcaria itself could fall. Against the King's wishes, the Royal Army moved the Royal Family to Falca, considered the summer' capital because it was the first choice for a vacation spot of government officials. DakTaan Sword was still on the frontlines and was unaware that his family had been moved or the threat to the homeworld. Nor did he know that a cabal of generals and government officials, with secret knowledge of another threat were prepared to offer a painful gift to avoid being wiped out. The Borg swiped through Alberag space, even the dreaded Jaharabese could not stop the assault as several Cubes assimilated their civilization. The Alberag Navy was force to retreat from the War, to defend their own worlds, allowing the Falcarians to go on the offensive. Their easy victories had made Sword and his officers very happy until they came face to face with the Borg. The site of the demolished Alberag fleet, a rival of their own, showed him just how powerful this new party was. The Military command ordered a retreat, believing the War was now over. The Borg had formed a pincer around Falcarian territory and claimed but one planet, Falca. Sword and several other warships had come to late to save his family but battled hard any way. Requests for reinforcement from a nearby naval base when unheard though Sword learned they had formed a skirmish line several light years from Falca, exposing other worlds to the Borg. Sword was left with seven out of thirty-three ships in very short order. They continued to fight until his officers requested he order a tactical retreat. The Borg pursued, destroying one ship and seizing another. They could not outrun the Cubes and the Fleet ahead was not going to aid them. A spacial anomaly appeared on scanners and all hoped its unusual properties would allow them to avoid being spotted. What they found was a wormhole, sending the five remaining warships hurtling tens of thousands of light years into unknown space. When Sword came to, he saw his ship's instruments and consoles were a mess as many of the systems overloaded. They were no match for the fleet of Romulan warbirds sent to investigate them. Sword was put in detention camp 195 where he suffered torture and hard labor. His attempts to escape only made the torture more longer lasting. Tal Shiar Admiral Custle was his cold interrogator who would always ask where they came from and Sword would always refuse. After four years, the opportunity prevented itself when a Romulan medical lieutenant had to tend to him. Her name was Suan and over the course of several weeks where she had to nurse him back for more torture, she began to fall for this foreigner and what her Government was doing against him, for he had offered her only kindness. She helped him escape after finding Sword's young nephew Jason, was also in the camp. Jason, Jahn's son, was training to be a Naval officer and was on one of the other ships when he had been captured. For Sword, Jason was his only living relative and took him in as if he was his son. They crossed the Neutral Zone just ahead of a pursuing Warbird and into the hands of a patrolling Federation starship. After they were interviewed' at a nearby starbase, both went to Earth. Jason, at Sword's urging went to Oxford University to understand their new home and its people. Both had been given Federation citizenship because of Ambassador Sarek's sponsorship. Sword's plea for the Federation to intervene to save his enslaved people from the Romulan camps went on deaf ears. Politics. Sword learned that most of his people had been slaughtered and he became despondent. Sarek thought Sword needed to focus on something to help heal the wounds. The aged Vulcan never thought Starfleet would eventually be the exiled prince's calling. Starfleet Academy had come and went quickly and due to Sword's previous military experiences and training and with the skirmishes with the Cardassians, went up the ranks. He also found love though it was not meant to be and he and Katherine fforbes, a Starfleet counselor, parted ways. He was troubled by the relationship because of guilt, feeling he was betraying Rosa. He took leave on Vulcan where he learned to accept the past and move on. After several years, he made Risa a frequent port of call. His first command was the Miranda Class USS Centurion. He was given a challenge by his superiors to whip the ship into shape and he did just that, making the Centurion's crew one of the best in the Fleet. He remained in command of her for nine years, even though, promotions and better vessels were offered. He had found a home. The Borg changed all that and it was like stepping into the past. He had informed Starfleet that the Borg were nearly impotent but they still engaged as their only option. Sword fought bravely but the fifty year-old Centurion could only take so much and after it took yet another hit, it died. Sword ordered the evacuation and was determined to remain on the Bridge, to avenge his family and his people but his officers dragged him off, saving his life. Two years later, he was given command of another aged ship, the USS Amon-Re and he accepted it gladly for regardless of what he commanded, he was in space where he belonged. |
Personality: | Sword is first a soldier, making him a gifted tactician but even with his royal linage, he does not look down upon the Federation, his new home, but is proud that they stood up to the Borg. He is still a shameless womanizer but is unlikely to settle down believing Rosa to be his first and only wife. He is close to his nephew Jason that he convinced to join Starfleet. With the aid of his Kess Rith bodyguard, Grelin, he hopes to locate free Falcarians in the Alpha Quadrant. He hates the Borg, even more than the Alberag. |

Dislikes: | Hates when others assume he should be something he is not. He is often scolded for not accepting the offers to flag rank as if he was to arrogant. He hates the Borg and the Romulans, especially Admiral Custle whom he now has a personal grudge match for. He has made an exception for Suan. He does not accept cowardice believing every man should be prepared for the ultimate sacrifice if the cause is just. |
