ReeD Hi geng!! Waddup!! Alas, dapat jumpe korang( achai, arin, ariel and co.) kat MASJID KLCC!!! tu yang syahdu tu.... jarang aku jumpe bebudak starlet kat mesjid... biase nye kat kedai poton, trek, dan kawasan sewaktu dengannye. Hah, korang ade jumpe meor ari tu??? meor ni budak starlet Keramat la kan (EPMotorsports). So, ape citer???

Ni aku nak luahkan sikit ilmu aku kat korang la...starlet die hard. Kalau korang nak performance yang memang worth your money, just follow my advise. This is applicable for 2E and 4E engine.

Light Tune:

Hi Flow intake system, Free Flow exhaust system with 2.25inch pipe(from turbo down pipe to end muffler), free flow muffler. Should get 15-30hp more.

Mid Tune:

Put in FCD and up boost. REMINDER: 4E ideal max boost is 0.9bar, 2E can go as high as 1.2 bar. This is bcoz 2E is low compression engine, 4E is high comp. After completing this 2 stage, you should get around 160-170hp on the wheel(hp on flywheel is around 190)

Wild stage:

This is the most expensive!!! Get a 5E(Cynos) block(1.5liter) and match it with that of 4E head. But then, u need to get a whole set of new forged piston for 1.5-1.6 liter. Cost u a fortune but worth it. Then, ECU upgrade....maybe JAM, TRD, or TOM'S. Next is the turbo unit. The best is IHI on those B8 210....very very very rare. But TD05-16G will do the work. Don't forget the injectors: add 2-3 more 2E sized injector. Also, Fuel Regulator Pressure and more powerful fuel pump...maybe silvia pump. Oh yeah, the intercooler.....minimum is the size of VR4 for this application. And lastly, oil cooler...very important. At this stage, boost can be set at 1.5-1.8 bar....and dont forget the metal gasket!! Approximate hp (i've seen this on Japanese web) is 390-460 hp!!! say good bye to EVO7 or even GTRs...

ReeD Hi Flow intake system tu biasa aje....gantikan yang standard air filter tu ngan aftermarket version...K&N, Simota, APEXi, Trust etc. Intake system macam ini adalah less restricted..... for better engine breathing. Kalau dah pernafasan engine tu bagus, baru turbin buleh function at its best... quick response. Free Flow exhaust system tu, sistem ekzos kena la yang tak de halangan.... dalam kes ni, kalau ko perasan, engine2 standard dari jepun biasenye lepas turbine ade macam sarang--cat converter. Catalitic converter ni function die untuk penjagaan alam sekitar. Yang tak syoknye, cat converter ni buat ekzos kete tak free flowing... so, for better exhaust flow, buang cat converter ni. Pas tu, piping ekzos bagi 2.25 inci(diameter)..... kalau dah upgrade turbo, buleh lah pakai 2.5 ke 3 inci dari turbine hingga ke muffler.

NOTE: IT IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT FOR A TURBOCHARGED CAR TO HAVE A GOOD INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR BETTER RESPONSE AND EFFICIENCY

Pas tu, muffler kat belakang tu pun kene la yang turbo....baru free flow. Cari la brand HKS, APEXi, Trust, RS Akimoto etc...nak best lagi cari yang ade certified by JASMA...dah tentu senyap, JPJ tak kacau. Pasal harga, tak berani nak kate.... depends on luck la.... tapi barang2 ni kat kedai poton besepah....shop around.... kalau mahal pun piping ekzos la.... nak cun stainless steel.

Glanza aku tu pun aku set 0.9-1.0 bar... memang stiiimm... setakat 4G61T mirage standard tu memang kene la.. giller ko, 3 tiang lampu dah 120km/h...talk about 1.3liter engine. Ade rezki aku nak project EP70/71 masuk 4A-GE AE111.... 4 throttle + 6 speed g/box.... Tak cukup tanahh!!!! Ok Achai....keep on boosting

Kris Arin.....gini SURBO ini seperti Cyclone cuma dr segi power SURBO lebih power sebab kedudukannya yg menyebabkan ia lebih power. SURBO berfungsi berdasarkan pergerakan angin samada EFI atau Carburattor. Selalunya angin yg di hisap masuk melalui air filter adalah terlalu besar dan tak seimbang. SURBO akan membuat angin yg dihisap tadi bergerak dalam keaadaan berpusing seperti taufan jika angin melaluinya. Berdasarkan prinsip aerodinamik angin yg berpusing mempunyai daya kinetik yg lebih kuat cth. puting beliung bertambah kuat jika pusarannya lebih kuat. sama jugalah dengan surbo ...angin yg melaluinya berpusing dengan kuat serta serata dan akan membawa kuasa yg lebih. Jika angin yg berpusing tadi masuk kedalam kipas turbo bayangkanlah kuasa yg akan terhasil tentu lebih kuat bukan???suara turbo pun akan bertambah kuat....aku telah memakainya dan inilah pengalaman ku...dengan SURBO 0-100kmh aku ialah 7.11....ok leee ader pertanyaan tanya jee

Kris Katakan aku dapat beli starlet dan mungkin bercadang nak masuk engine levin AE86 NA ajer.Dekat maner aku nak dapatkan racing cam and adjustable cam pulley. Design exhaust aper yg terbaik utk NA enjin?Beraper diameter?Tolong jawab geng.
ReeD Ko nak masuk enjin Levin/Trueno.... nak main NA aje la ni.... Kalau nak amik 4AG AE86(Hatchi Roku - dalam bahasa jepun), leceh la sikit.... sebab enjin tu layout die FR (front enjin, rear wheel drive) Nak kene cari gearbox FR la, kene relocate banyak bende. Hp die tak beso sangat, lebih kurang 128hp. Aku suggest ko amik 4AG AE92.... senang citer. Lagi pun ini enjin baru.... aku rase hp die around 130-140. Tapi kalau modal beso lagi, say around RM5000-RM6000, amik aje 4AG AE111.... also known as the "black top"........4 throttle, 6-speed g/box, VVTi....hp around 165-170.... tak yah sesusah nak masuk beli hi cam, die dah memang VVTi...macam vtec la. Masuk AFC, ITC(Ignition Timing Controller)...perrgghh melekat beb... dah la 6-speed... tak cukup tanah lari!!! Amacam, ada berani.. aku nak project gak macam ni....mungkin kat starlet la... nak titik civic type R!!!!

Ekzos untuk NA...jangan la beso sangat.... NA takde banyak back pressure as compared with turbo engine.... piping kasi 2.25inci aje...2.5inci tu dah kira beso sangat. Muffler kasi muffler hi flow macam turbo pun boleh.. extractor, elok main 4-2-1 tarik panjang.... kalau nak main pick-up, main enjin turbo, tok sah dok cari NA...rugi.

Hah pas tu jangan lupe upgrade brake system!!! masuk Levin/Trueno jugak.... dan suspension die sekali.... enjin tu berat takleh nak cope up dengan suspension starlet.

ReeD Tapi, ingat2....upgrade engine kene la juge upgrade suspension and brake system yek.... jangan nanti melekat kat pokok lak. Kalau korang nak tune yang paling just nice..... pergi bengkel Zul kat din ekzos ulu kelang. Kalau 4E memang sesuai sangat...setakat VR4 standard memang buleh sangat la pukul!!! Application die: turbo unit tukar....hybrid turbo(nak tau call aku), injector, boost up to 0.9bar....memang melekat. Aku dah test dah kete Zul dulu...CX7272....memang cun....takde rase turbo lag, power at every RPM band, top speed is there. okay guys, happy boosting. i'll be back this weekend for awal muharam...

Milie Saha, Ko amik lah boost cut aku, blitz nak jual, memang untuk 2E, fungsinya macam FCD gak
Reed FCD(HKS) tu function die untuk "tipu" ECU standard. Normally, standard ECU has a max voltage reading (that was programmed ealier) which cut the fuel supply when the max boost level is reached. the reason toyota do such a thing, like most car manufacturers do, is to make the car reliable (so that your car can last for more than 10 years without having major engine problems). in your case, an FCD on 2E will take you to a safe boost upto 1.2bar.....BUT.... please add in one xtra injector... you see, with FCD, the ECU is seeing the boost level as below than what really is. example, with FCD, you set your boost at 1.2bar, and ECU will not cut fuel becoz the FCD "trick" the ECU into thinking that the boost is only somewhere below 0.8bar. so, when ECU only read it as 0.8bar (instead of 1.2bar), ECU will only supply fuel as what a 0.8bar engine requires..... by right, ECU should supply fuel to match your 1.2bar. therefore, in this case, you will have a "lean" situation where there is not enough fuel to support the 1.2bar of air pressure coming in..... then this will cause "detonation" which is harmful to pistons!!! pistons will melt if detonation occur.... especially 4e pistons!!

just remember, add in at least one extra injector when increase boost.... if you want the best boost level/setup, consult Sifu Zul... he will give you some options.

a properly tuned 2e, with boost up, bigger turbo, enough fuel will be able to put out 200ps...... no kidding!!! a 200ps ep70/71 will smoke type R easily or even EVOs for that matter.... it's power to weight ratio......

REMINDER!!! HOW'S YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM.. IS ENGINE OIL STILL WITHIN SPEC/MILEAGE??

injector xtra kalau buleh bubuh aje 4e punye sebijik, 4agze punye pun ok gak.... 4e punye injector cc is 295, 4agze aku tak pasti.... tapi kalau 4age(4throttle) = 290.... (4e punye injector kire beso la)

kalau nak cantik, buat tapak injector ngan aluminium piping baru... tapi mahe la..... ape ape pun ko consult ngan Sifu Zul, atau pun kite sembang ngan lebih detail lagi masa kat PD.....

Reed actually, the best exhaust system is the one without any muffler at all....no restriction... free flowing.
tapi tahan ke kite sume nak dengo bising bebeno??

pasal type of muffler, get a through flow (straight flow)... jangan pakai s-flow.... it is important for turbo fitted cars to decrease the exhaust back pressure. fitting your car with a straight flow muffler will ensure the back pressure at its minimal level...hence, increase the turbine efficiency.... the turbo will only have to "work" less in order to generate the required boost.

in addition, one must use the right size (diameter) for the whole exhaust piping, from turbo downpipe till end muffler to achieve maximum performance. and again, depending on your application: what is your desired output HP? for street or racing use only? are you planning to upgrade your turbo with bigger one? how big is it? or just settle down with the standard (crappy) CT9.... it all depends on your desired application...

for best application with standard CT9... i would say 2.25inch pipe from turbo till end muffler is the best of both world. you get good response and top speed.... remember, don't boost exceed 1.0bar without having xtra injectors on.... your 4E will melt like chocholate bar.. 4E pistons are not like those of 2E or 3E... these two are low compression piston. one can just slam into 1.8bar region without melting these pistons!!

again, the choice of muffler is yours..... but for best result use one with straight flow (through flow). the most important part is the size (diameter) of the piping..... and remember, BIGGER DOES NOT MEAN BETTER.

ni tahu nak pepah aje.... engine oil dah bubuh baru ke blum? tu paling penting for turbocharged engines.

Reed aku punyer 4E + T25 + fuel rail tembaga 0.6cm + manifold injector 2.5 inci serupa Kenara punyooo entah cukup ke tak cukup minyak ? cip aku yg 3S tuh cakap cukup ....tapi aku selalu terhidu bau minyak petrol ok ke tuh??
Pasal ekzos aku pakai 2.5 inci besi jeee + turbo tube 2.5' + flexible pipe 2.5' + muffler premier 2.5'+ taip pipe Trust (free punyoo) = RM 480.00
Bunyi dia bess garang tapi tak garang tapi sekali tekan minyak berhambur asap keluar....kekekekk....
Next project FCD buat sendiri (home made).....murah punyoooo.....

kalu masuk sintetik (bukan sin-te-tek) buleh tahan sampai 10,000km to 12,000km. tapi aku maintain 10,000km, pas tu tukar baru. Kalu NA buleh sampai 20,000km....setahun tak yah tuko minyak enjin.

Reed aku dah pakai 3 jenis plug:
1. Bosch Super 4-- yang ade 4 kaki tu --RM60-70
2. NGK "R" --RM20-30
3. NGK yang 4E original --RM35 sebijik

Super 4 ni problem die mase pagi.... payah nak idup.... bile dah idup ade misfire sikit.

NGK "R" aku rase memang cantekk la so far..... the closest performance dengan NGK original 4E. Aku main boost 0.9-1.1 bar pun tahan lagi sampai sekarang....dah 1 tahun lebih kot.

pada pendapat aku, takyah la beli plug memahal sangat sampai beratus ratus..... kalau nak serius sangat, masuk turbo beso, FCD, fuel pump, injectors.... lagi bebaloi.

Ni nak tanya sikit lagi....NGK R tuh yg ader nombor 9 disebelah R tuh ke? NGK Platinum kan? Itu memang bagus.....itu yang aku nak cari untuk dipadankan dengan T25 aku tuh....paling murah di KK ialah RM 110.00.......puehhhhhh.....
Tapi takpe ader member nak pi KL lusa dan akan kan kirimkan uang pada dia untuk beli NGK Platinum ......ex-rally driver tuh + defensive driving tutor= Mr. Abu Samah keta Toyota Corolla 4AGZE BCQ 3818 , sekarang menetap di Sabah.

compression ratio: 2e, 3e = 7.8:1(turbo)
4e = 8.2:1(turbo)
5e = 9.5:1(na) -- aku rase la

g/box ratio: closest=2e

the best combination to get the highest hp is 5e block + 4e head..... with some extra accessories can easily get you to 300hp.

standard 4e when properly tuned can get up to 250hp (1.5 and above bar boost).

so, selamat mencuba.
