LOOKING BACK

There was a wide range of Toyota Starlet produced by Toyota but the most famous is the one that powered with turbo charged engine.  In Malaysia, it was so difficult to find even the standard Starlet because of very fews was imported from Japan.

It was so limited and expensive car. If you look at its price 3-4 years back I am sure that you have to think twice before make decision to buy this car. The standard ep70, is quoted for RM27,000 to RM30,000.

Nowdays, almost all ep70 owners had already converted their machine with the ep71 Turbo Charge body kit or more advance engine, suspension..etc.. The reason is so simple, the body kit will make their car smart, cute and also like new. :) In Sabah, if ur lucky u also can find easily standard ep70, ermmm..

We also have fews member who owned the original ep71, however, like the ep70 owner, they also converted their eps with 4e-fte engine. The standard 4e-fte engine, 16 valve came with dual mode turbo system, which output power 135bhp (hi) 115bhp (low). This engine is smaller than 2e engine, but produce more power. In malaysia, this engine easily be the leader in its class of modification.

Toyota Starlet Turbo S 1987 - 1990 (EP71) 14x6
Uses the 2T-TELU 1295cc SOHC 4cyl EFI 12-valve intercooled turbo engine.
Puts out 82.5kW@6000rpm, 150Nm@3600rpm. Weight 790kg.
Toyota Motor Corporation also produced 4-door model which powered with turbo charged engine. In Malaysia, only 2-door (ep71) was imported to Malaysia, but in Singapore and also Indonesia we can find these 4-door ep71. The price is estimated at 2-doors ; RM30,000 - RM35,000

Toyota Starlet GT EP82
Toyota Starlet GT 1990 - 1991 (EP82) 14x6 steel wheels
Uses 4E-FTE 1331cc DOHC 4cyl EFI-16-valve intercooled turbo engine. Weight 830kg.
Has cheap vinyl headlining (improved 1992 onwards). Air-con (Climate control 1992 onwards)
Thisis first model of GT, also very limited in Malaysia, but from the Motor Trader they quoted for RM50,000 - RM60,000.  May be after AFTA the price will be reduced  to RM25,000 who knows ?

Puts out 100kW@6400rpm, 157Nm@4800rpm. Weight 860kg. Ini

Around this time a lot of car makers went to using round headlights. This is very nice car, price estimated at RM50,000 - RM60,000, ada berani ?

 

STARLET GLANZA (EP91)
Toyota Starlet Glanza V 1996 - 1998? (EP91)
Pictured is 1998 version which has a slight alteration to bodykit in the front.
Auto everything, ABS, Airbag, Climate control, lumbar adjustable driver's seat.
Uses 4E-FTE 1331cc DOHC 4cyl EFI-16-valve intercooled turbo engine.
Puts out 100kW@6400rpm, 157Nm@4800rpm. Weight 920kg. In Malaysia the price still high, estimated at RM70,000 - RM80,000. This time Toyota had change the outlook and also a little bit on the turbo charger, for comparison between ep82's turbo and also ep91's turbo, pls do check at our specs section...
