Self Dedication Ritual

I'll write up two of them. One folk Wicca and one Ceremonial Wicca.

Take a bath before the ritual. Ware something white (for purity) and ware something new (for new beginnings) Usually you would have a pentacle or another piece of jewelry that represents your path and a part of the ceremony is to put it on as a symbol of your dedication to the Craft.

get all your items together.

Ceremonial Wicca (CW) items - four candles to put in the quarters. Usually yellow in the East for Air, red in the South for Fire, blue in the West for Water and Green in the North for Earth. There are a lot of colors that you can use in the Quarters. Think about the element that is being represented and pick the color that feel right for you.

2 White candles for the God and Goddess

One item to represent each element - salt for Earth, chalice of water, Fire candle (tea light) for Fire, Incense or for Air. A pentacle for Spirit and to bring the four elements together.

You'll need a wand to cast your circle.

bottle water for you to drink and a snack.

Folk Wicca - One white candle.

Ritual Outline

SET UP

(CW) Set up your altar - Pentacle center; left and bottom ;salt; left and top ; water; right and bottom - tea light; right and top - incense. Top and center. Goddess candle to the left and God candle to the right. Water and Earth are Feminine and Fire and Air are masculine. Under the pentacle is where you put your wand.

Set the Quarter in their direction at what will be the edges of your circle. Use a compass.

CLEANSING &  BLESSING

Light you Fire candle and say, "by the power of Fire" then light you incense and say, "by the power of Air" then trace a pentacle in the air over your altar with the incense and say, "I cleans and bless this place."

Then take a pinch of salt and say, "by the power of Earth" add it to the  chalice and say, "by the power of water" then put your first two fingers in the saltwater and sprinkle the altar and say, I cleans and bless this place."

Then take the salt water and starting at your altar working clockwise sprinkle your circle and say, " Salt and Water where thou art cast, let no spell or unknown purpose last, not in complete accord with me, as I say So Mote It Be." Repeat that till you have worked you way back to the altar. Put the chalice back in it's place.

CASTING THE CIRCLE

Take you wand and go to the center of your circle. Relax, ground and center. Channel the energy from Mother Earth below and Father Sky above to meet and mix at your heart. Turn to the East. When you can feel the energy built up then send it down your arm and out your wand. Starting in the East stretch out your hand and let a shaft of light (the color will be up to you) come out of the wand and touch the ground at the outer edge of the circle. Visualize a curtain of light shooting out of the floor where you touched it and raising over your head to meet in the center. Going clockwise and holding onto this visualization say,

"I cast this circle to protect me from all harm, I cast this circle to draw to me only that which is good and correct for me. I cast this circle to serve as a sacred place of perfect love and perfect trust." Say this till you come back around. Completing the circle. I like to do this within three repeats of the spell. Don't end in the middle of the spell. If you finish the circle early just stand there holding the light in one place till you finish the cast. Center yourself. Put your wand back on the altar.

EVOKING THE GUARDIANS

Go to the East candle and light the candle. Say, " Hail to thee Guardians of the East and Air. I call upon thee to guard my circle and witness this work." Any special words you have for the Guardians you say it now. Go clockwise doing the same thing for each Guardian.

EVOKING THE GODDESS AND GOD

Then you go to your altar and light the Goddess candle and say, "Hail to thee my honor my Goddess and my Mother.  I light this candle to honor my Goddess and my Mother and ask thee to bless this rite." Any special words you have for the Goddess you say it now. I have a Goddess prayer I say now. Then light the God candle and say, " I light this candle to honor my God and my Father and I ask thee to bless this rite." Any special words you have for the God you say it now. I say the Lord?s Prayer.

RITE/WORK

Here is the part that you?re on your own. Just talk to the God/dess about why your are here and how you feel. Read any special words you may have prepared. Put on the item you have chosen to symbolize your dedication. Take as much time as you want.

CAKES & ALE

Hold your drink and snack and ask the God/dess to bless them. Then eat & drink. Leave a little of the food behind. When you are done with the ritual leave the left over of the food outside and spill a little of water on the ground. This is your way of giving back what has been give.

DEVOKING THE GODDESS AND GOD

Face the Goddess and God candles and looking at the God candle say, "Hail and Farewell to thee my God and my Father. I thank thee for thy blessing upon my rite." Then snuff out the God candle.

Looking at the Goddess candle say, "Hail and Farewell to thee my Goddess and my Mother. I thank thee for thy blessing upon my rite." Then snuff out the Goddess candle.

DEVOKING THE GUARDIANS

Go to the East candle and light the candle. Say, " Hail and Farewell to thee Guardians of the East and Air. I thank thee for guarding my circle and witnessing my work." Any special words you have for the Guardians you say it now. Go clockwise doing the same thing for each Guardian.

OPENING THE CIRCLE

Pick up your wand. Go to the center of your circle. Starting in the East and working counter clockwise. Stretch out your wand and draw up the energy your sent out and your move counter clockwise say or sing, "May the circle be open, but unbroken. May the peace of the God/dess be ever in your heart. Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again." Hold you wand and let the energy drain back into the ground.

Simple Ceremony -

CLEANSING - open you hand wide and hold them down to your side. You now have a broom.

say,  "I sweep this floor to sweep away all that may do me harm. I sweep this floor to sweep away all that's not right for me. As I sweep I cast my spell, so mote it be." Do this clockwise for you whole circle area.

CASTING & OPENING THE CIRCLE- point your first two fingers out and now you have your wand. Cast with the same word I used before.

EVOKING & DEVOKING THE GUARDIANS - You don't have Guardian candles so you can use hand gestures to invite and welcome the Guardians. Use the same words.

EVOKING & DEVOKING THE GODDESS AND GOD - Here is where you like your one candle. Use the same words but combined Mother & Father or God & Goddess, but I wouldn't use both. Just too wordy for me.

The rest is pretty much the same. Take what you like and trash what you don't. The pattern is what makes it Wiccan, but it's you that makes it magickal.
