Computer Hints for Hiding Your Witchieness
This is going to be a quick page on how to practice witchcraft without letting everyone know about it.

Realizing that you are a witch gives you a sense of relief and freedom. You want to shout out to the world "I'm a WITCH, this is who I am! I LOVE being ME!" Heck, Christians go around saying, "I've been saved! How about you?"
Why can't we go around saying, "The Goddess is ALIVE, magick is afoot!" This year I've come out of the closet with the rest of my family and guess what? They still LOVE ME!   You see, there is always hope :)
It is still dangerous for many to come out of the closet, but that doesn't mean you have to deny yourself, either.
Christians don't loose their children, spouse, jobs or worst because of who they are. Witches do. Face it, Christianity is the socially accepted religion of choice. In our society, America, Christians are the ones in power. There was a time when the Goddess religions were accepted and that time is slowly coming back again, but for now Christianity is the accepted religion. It's the Fundies that seem to have the loudest voice and to them 'Tolerance' is a satanic word.
I do hope that as the Goddess religions emerge into public view that they will show balance with the Goddess and God. If they don't then there will be no balance and still no freedom.
Lets think about what it would have been like in the Old Days of practicing the craft.
First, don't tell anyone you're a witch. You can and should tell you spouse, but don't till you know they will react in a positive way. My hubby is a Christian, but not a fundie. He doesn't like the way the church teaches that there way is the only way and their the only ones that got it right. So as I learned about Wicca I told him little bits of information and saw how he reacted. The reaction was positive or it didn't bother him. I kept telling him a little more and buying books. Each step I watched for signs. The moment his reaction got negative, I stop telling him stuff and when he would relax his guard I would tell him a little more. He learned that Wicca is a positive lifestyle towards personal and spiritual growth. He accepts me as I am, but still get uncomfortable when I practice magick in the house. Not because he thinks it evil, just because can sense it's real. I was born with a magickal nature to me, he wasn't and it's scary to him. We've solved this by my telling him not to come in the bedroom till I come out and give the all clear. Also by doing spells and rituals while he's not at home or when he's on the computer (it's like the same thing). Unless you spouse is a pagan, introduce him/her to Wicca a little at a time. Even people who have never gone to church since childhood can turn fundie when you mention witchcraft. Go slow and easy. Hopefully someday you'll be able to say, "From what I've learned about Wicca, this really fits what I believe in. I'm going to start practicing it."
Then you can start slowly buying the books and tools.
Lets assume that you spouse is a fundie.
How to practice witchcraft without being caught?
I'm with my hubby 24/7, so I really couldn't picture it being much harder. This is what I would do if he was a fundie. Pray! I'm serious. Pray to the Divine that Love will soften his heart and open his mind.
Start going to church, Even if you never go to the same one twice and only do it for a few months, start going and invite him along. He will see that you are becoming a more spiritual person and also that you don't fit right in the crowd.
Don't by books with the word witch or wicca in the title. Do use the internet and bookmark the sites without using words that might be suspicious or interesting to him. If you're paranoid that your hubby may go to the sites. Then save the bookmarks on a floppy and hide the floppy. This can also be your BOS. Set your history to erase each day and clean out your cookies.
Everything you need to know for first degree Wicca is on the internet, use it!
Start a daily ritual of meditation. If you can do it every morning and every night. Every night before I fall asleep I ground and center. Then I set up a circle of protection around myself. This can be your time of magick, plus any time that he is not in the house.
Decorate the house according to the Wheel of the Year. It is following the Wheel of the Year that attunes you into nature and rediscovering our connection to the Earth is very important to Wicca. You can do this without obvious pagan symbols. (you know, like Easter eggs :-) LOL
Your Altar - My altar is set up on my dresser in plain site. See Dresser Altar my pictures are incomplete, sorry.
For Air- My hubby doesn't like incense, so I use a simmering oil pot that uses tea candles and a yellow candle in the East quarter. The oil pot can be use to represent Air and Water.
For Fire - a red candle. I also have one in the South quarter.
For Water - a blue glass bowl. Use it for potpourri. Then rinse it out and add clear water for rituals. A blue candle in the West quarter or the room.
For Earth - a quartz crystal, a green candle in the North, a pinch of salt in a green tea candle holder.
Pentacle - my first altar pentacle was drawn on a piece of cardboard that I kept hidden behind my nightstand. You could just draw it on paper and throw it away after the ritual. Tear it to pieces and mix it in the trash. Now I have my pentacle on a glass pillar candle holder. You can't see it unless you take the candle off.
Garb - I bought a black blouse that I only wore when I was doing a ritual and lavender hand lotion to bless myself with.
For a wand - a stick you found outside or just your first two fingers.
For the Divine- This is easy for Christian Witches, because we only need one white candle. Then again two white candles on your dresser shouldn't look suspicious.
You don't need candles in the Quarters there are other thing that can represent the elements, but one white candle for the Divine should be a must. A candle flame can do more for you then any other tool you could purchase.
Your BOS&L  can be a floppy disk or a diary. Most people respect the privacy of a diary, but just in case. write your ritual outline in a code and make you invocations sound like prayers or poems. You need to memorize the rest. You could also write you experiences like they were dreams. Most folks don't take dreams seriously. I'm trying to put it all on this website, so I can access it from anywhere.
If having all this stuff on your dresser is risky, then spread them throughout your house. The old witches did not buy tools just for use in the craft. The Craft was a part of their everyday lives. It should be the same for us, a part of our everyday life. Because all of these tools are being used elsewhere they need to be cleans and blessed before setting on your altar. I have a Cleans, Bless and Charge ritual posted. Just shorten it down to do all the tools at once.
Someday all will understand that Freedom of Religion Means All Religions, but until that day, many of us have to be careful.
I can now leave my bedroom altar set up all the time with all my store bought tools on them. All I have to do is tell my hubby I'm doing a spell, don't go in the bedroom till I come out and give the all clear. I also can let him know I'm going to the park for an Esbat meditation or I need him to disappear for a few hours so I can do a Sabbat ritual in the house. Then I hand him a paper from Best Buy and he's gone. LOL
To be open with my hubby and kids means the world to me and I hope you can do the same someday. I have come out of the broom closet with the rest of my family and so far there has been no adverse reactions. They may not be sure about what I believe in, but  they do know that I am a loving and caring person.
Blessed Be
