First Year When God sends an angel to earth We call this heavenly miracle "birth." You grow sweeter with each passing day How much you're loved...no words can say. We hold your hand and you hold our heart From the innermost tender part. We watch you with love beyond what we've known Amazed at what our love has sown. This first year ends and we celebrate anew The joy God brought us when He sent us you! -Thena Smith |

Siblings Sometimes we don't see eye to eye And don't hug cheek to cheek Words that sound a wee bit cross Sometimes the two of us may speak. We may have a spat sometimes Or disagreements now and then And sometimes one might pout awhile To see the other win. But when nip comes down to tuck The rest of the world doesn't mean the same As we do to each other Cause no one is as special as A sister or a brother. -Thena Smith |

A Days Work Today I left some dishes dirty The bed got made around two thirty The nappies soaked a little longer Their odor grew a little stronger The crumbs I spilled the day before Were staring at me from the floor The dirty streaks in the window panes Will still be there next time it rains "For shame, oh lazy one" you say And what did you do today? I nursed a baby while he slept I held a toddler while she wept I played a game of hide and seek I squeezed a toy so it would squeak I pushed a swing, I sang a song I taught a child what is right and wrong What did I do this whole day through? Not much that shows, I guess it's true Unless you think that what I've done Might be important to someone With the brightest eyes and the softest hair If that is true, I've done my share |
